Sonic X Reader: Behind the Scenes (A Sonic Forces Fanfiction)

Chapter 4

You were back to running through the jungle, looking around. What was that sudden urge you felt? it seemed to have disappeared, and you gave a frustrated huff. You continued to run, the trees were a blur, and soon enough you had arrived back at the ruins, where Infinite had been fighting the other two.

The urge was suddenly there, pounding in your stomach, and you knew you were close to whatever it was. You looked around inspecting the walls of the ruins, seeing only where Silver had collided when Infinite attacked.

Then, you spotted it. An oddly shaped gem sat on the ground, where Infinite had dropped it as he flew after Sonic. You stared down at it, this gem seemed really important, it had a powerful vibe surrounding it, yet Infinite was so careless to drop it, so what was it's worth?

You frowned and picked it up, examining the gem, before it let off a glow, and a surge of power swarm over you.

-Wow...-

You blinked, turning the gem over in your hands, before you heard the sound of something cutting through the air. You look up, unconsciously off guard. A blue blur jumped in front of you, staring up at you. You blinked, confused.

What looked like a smaller version of Sonic now stood directly in front of you, staring up at you with large, dark eyes. A yellow fox landed next to him, glancing at the small hedgehog and then turning to you.

"Have we met before...?" He asked.

You shook your head, taking a small step back. Was he a friend or a foe? You stared at the golden fox, noticing he had two tails swishing behind him. The nickname 'Tails' came to mind and you and to wonder if this is the guy the others had mentioned not being in the right mind frame.

And did that mean he would be dangerous?

"Well, then I'll introduce myself! My name is Miles, but my friends call me Tails!" The fox held his hand out.

You nodded and shook his hand, gripping the gem tightly in the other hand. The small hedgehog waved and gave you the thumbs up and Tails chuckled.

"This is Sonic, or... Classic Sonic, he's from the past, and he's here to help us with what's going on since..." The kitsune's ears lowered slightly.

You tilted your head, before resting a hand on his shoulder.

He looked up, giving you a smile, "Anyway, we better get to HQ and.. Hey, that's a Phantom Ruby!"

He pointed at the gem in your hands, and you turned to it.

"You must have activated it when you grabbed it. Mind if I take it back to my HQ and run some tests on it? I need to see it's power."

You hugged it to your chest slightly, feeling attached to the gem already.

"Don't worry, you can come too. Once the gem is activated, only that person can use it. So lets go!" He grabbed your arm and started flying. You let out a small yelp, watching as the 'Classic' Sonic silently laughed and ran below.

"Wait, so you mean Sonic is alive?!" The fox had landed at the base, telling you how he saw Sonic being defeated. You had then shaken your head, pointing at the HQ, at first Tails had no clue what you meant, but he soon put the pieces together, "He's in the HQ?!"

You smiled and nodded, watching the kitsune start flying down the hall. The small blue hedgehog and yourself followed close behind. The doors to the main control room opened and Tails flung himself inside.
