Your POV:
I finished dinner about a few hours ago and I was meant to be asleep, like my mum and dad in the neighboring room, but I couldn't fall asleep. Don't ask me why. I ended up with my phone clasped in my hand and the light from the screen projecting around my room. My thumb hovered over the chat with Alex, eventually I found my way to the keypad and began another message.
You: "hey Alex, I can't sleep."
You waited patiently for his response and before you were about to accept the fact that sleep was inevitable, the small 'seen' title came up under your recent message. You smirked a sleepy smile and waited his reply.
Nesquikbboy: "What time is it where u r?"
You: "About 2am in Australia"
Nesquikbboy: "no way, u live in Australia?! Do u have kangaroos and koalas everywhere?"
You: "that's one of the most stereotypical things I've ever read. And no, not where I live anyway"
Nesquikbboy: "really?!"
You: "yes really. What about Canada. I've heard everyone there's SUPER nice."
Nesquikbboy: "I guess, I mean it's just like everywhere else really."
We continued talking for a few more hours until I literally couldn't hold my eyelids open anymore. Alex was so open and comforting. I feel as though I could dm him at any part of the day, even at my worst and he would hold a pleasant conversation with me. He was my friend and he seemed like a genuine person.
I woke up the next day and rolled over to check my phone. The sudden amount of light coming from my screen was enough to blind me, fortunately I got used to the bright phone that was now in my grasp. The time read 9am and I got up to go downstairs. There was a note on my kitchen table from mum and dad; 'Morning sweetheart. You father and I have gone to work early and won't be home until late, you'll probably be asleep. Groceries are in the pantry and I left some money for pizza on the table, feel free to order some for dinner. Love you darling and hope you have a nice day'
I rolled my eyes. They always do this. It's like they don't even need a house, they're at work so much. I crumpled the piece of paper in my hand and threw it in the bin beside the table. I was sick of them having to go to work each and all day; sometimes I think they will just forget about me and their jobs will be the only thing they hold a commitment to. Still, I made myself some breakfast and sat on the couch, being sure to occasionally drop small pieces of food down the side to annoy my workaholic parents. I flipped over my phone to check the time and noticed a few Instagram banners on my home screen. Dm notifications. I hoped they were from Alex, I could use a friend to talk to today.
