They say when we are younger
Love will come one day
We found no love, but mom came
"Maybe tomorrow," she'd say
Fairy tales filled us with faith
And we thought we knew
The sun will be bright
And the sky will be blue
We found each other in the night
Few stars were still awake
We knew hearts could mend
But never knew they'd break
You filled me with fire
That kept me, in the cold, warm
You helped me climb higher
Through the red oaks in a storm
The storm settled
Warmth had returned
But you left me in pain
Letting the fire burn
A pile of ashes
Was all that remained
The fire was gone
The dragon, slain
You gave me love
Showed me how to not be blue
You showed me your heart
But you took mine, too
