Summary: Sapphire crashes into a gorgeous stranger and tries an unconventional way to get a date.

Sapphire figured her situation could be better. Instead of being covered in mud and drenched in freezing rain she could be sitting in her apartment by a nice fire. Instead of being alone in the woods she could be hanging out with friends at the donut shop or working on her blog. This, however, was not the case. Sapphire had spent the night before her birthday chasing down a cat, not necessarily out of the kindness of her heart, but to in fact get a date.

Truthfully, Sapphire's day had gone downhill the moment when her sister sent her a text at two in the morning.

'Good afternoon Sapphire. Are we still on for donuts tomorrow?'

Sapphire blinked at the bright light on her phone. This late at night, it already was tomorrow. She had been dreaming quite peacefully when the notification woke her up.

'Yeah Paddy, we're still going. And why aren't you asleep? Isn't Rhodonite there?'

'She might've mentioned I should go to bed...I predict she will not be happy I texted you and am awakening her with my typing.'

Sapphire giggled a little bit. Knowing Padparadscha and especially knowing Rhodonite, the latter was already angry. Sapphire couldn't be mad though. These were just the sorts of things Padparadscha did.

After sending a quick good night text and another reassurance that she would see her sister soon, Sapphire put her phone back on her bedside table. Despite it being the middle of the night and completely dark, Sapphire knew she wouldn't be getting back to sleep easily. She was the type of person who once awake was very difficult to get to fall back asleep.

Sapphire turned on her lamp and decided if she was going to be awake in the dead of night she should at least be productive.

She stumbled through her latest additions to her camera roll. Making a living off of running a blog wasn't always easy but Sapphire enjoyed her work. Her blog consisted of everything Beach City, the town she lived in. Being as the beach was a tourist hot spot, there was always plenty of people who would read through her blog for the finest eateries, vacation activities, and daily town life. Mayor Dewey thought the publicity was so good for the city that he was paying her to keep it running.

Sapphire's latest project had been on a more overlooked attraction of Beach City. The forest. Sapphire wondered why she had never photographed the place before. Wilderness, in her opinion, was absolutely beautiful. As she filtered between photos, editing here and there, Sapphire knew she couldn't of spent her time better.

The girl was so caught up in her work, she failed to notice the sun rise and her room get considerably lighter. In fact, the only thing that broke Sapphire away from her work was her alarm abruptly going off. As the sound of her alarm harmonized to the sound of Sapphire's growling stomach, Sapphire figured it might be time to put the computer away and focus on more important things such as getting dressed. While it was fully possible for her to show up to the Big Donut in her Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pajama pants, she didn't exactly want to.

"Sorry I'm late."

"Oh it's alright," Padparadscha smiled. "I only just got here too. Happy early birthday!"
