The Truth in Desire

Throughout our lives we're needed

It's a feeling often wasted

It's a truth difficult to hear

But in life we all must face it.

The feeling of being wanted

It's not a right, it's earned

For if you dare to provoke a flame

You risk getting burned.

It's a cross we all must bear

Ugly and pretty alike

This message is for the old romantics

These simple words I write.

I may be young and naive

Hell, love is foreign to me

But it's the feeling of being wanted

That chokes the air I breathe.

It is a feeling I have not known

But one day hope to earn

For I dared to provoke the flame

So I would happily burn.
