I sit on the couch downstairs, Colby next to me, my girlfriend Katrina is coming over today, Colby is meeting her for the first time. "Hey, guess what." I say, colby looks up at me, sad face. "Hm." He says. "Katrina is coming over today, you're meeting her for the first time ever." I say, he fake smiles and looks down, gazing off into space, what was wrong? "Colby what's the matter?" I ask, a see a tear in his eye. "Nothing." He says, I knew that something was wrong, but I'm not gonna force him to tell me. I move closer to him and side hug him, resting my head on his shoulder, he starts to cry, I move away. "Did I do something?" I ask, he shakes his head. "No, once I meet her I'm just gonna go chill in my room ok." He says, why was he being like this? He has never been like this, Kat walks in. "Hey babe." She says kissing me, colby looks down, wiping his tears away. "Kat this is colby and Colby this is Kat." I say, colby fake smiles again and waves his hand. "Hey Kat, wanna go upstairs so he can—you know, get himself together." I say, colby looks at me and crosses his arms, I look at him, he tucks his face into the couch, we go upstairs. "Sorry he's not being himself today, I don't know why, I swear he's a cool guy." I say. "Ok, wanna chill some other time when he's ok, it seemed like he was kinda sad." She says, I was so thankful that she cared about him as much as I do. "Nah, he'll be ok." I say, why did I say that, oh well. She kisses me and throws me down on the bed, I laugh. "Let's have a little fun." She says, all I could think about in that moment was colby, I push her off of me. "Sam what the hell." She says, I look at the floor. "Im sorry, I just—I'm worried about Colby." I say, she looks at me. "It's ok, I'll just come back tomorrow." She says, and walks out the door, I hear crying come from the other room, I go and see if colby is ok.
