Probs important to read Authors note: Hi! So this is my second story on WattPad :) So I've read a few more stories and learned from them, so now I hope this story is more better than my first one.
Two notes:
1. When words are in italics, it means what the character is thinking
2. I do have a few words in Romaji here, so I will be putting up translations at the beginning of Chapters, for those who may not know what the word means.
~HammyKowEDIT LIKE 3 YEARS AFTER THIS RELEASE: most of the "Japanese translations" aren't accurate. Don't rely on them too much.
Translations:
Ota-san- Father
Arigatou-Thank you
Arigatou Gozaimasu- Thank you very much (Roughly translates to)Following Lucy
"Father? But why? I'm only seven! How I supposed to live alone?!"
"I said get out! I have no time for you anymore!"
"Let the maids take care of me!"
"No one has the time for someone like you!"
Lucy felt her eyes fill up with warm and wet tears, while her body was filling up with hostility and sorrow.
"Fine!" She ran out the door just in time, her dad attempting to hit her with a glass plate in anger.
"But... It's raining..." She whimpered to herself. Just like my tears.
She walked off the front doorstep, dragging her small suitcase along with her.
"Good bye, Ota-san."
She wiped away her last tears and walked out the gate, into the real world, where things are more difficult and un suiting for a rich living girl like Lucy.
She walked through the rain, her eyes balling, and mixing with the rain as drops fell on her cheeks. She wanted to start falling to the ground and screaming, using all the hate and sorrow inside of her. But she just couldn't. What happened, happened. There's just no going back.
Following Natsu
"And the winner of the Magnolia Eating Contest is.... Natsu Dragneel!"
The crowd was roaring, with clapping and woots, congratulating Natsu on his victory on devouring as much food as quickly has he could.
"How is that kid not fat yet?!"
"What a fatass! When he grows up he'll be as big as a Dragon!"
Natsu frowned on the insults he heard from the large crowd. He quickly looked down to hide any embarrassment that his face may be showing. "Shut up.." He quietly murmured under his breath.
"Here you are, Natsu! Congratulations! Remember not to stuff yourself too much in the future." The judge walked in with Natsu's winning prize.
Natsu frowned once more, hesitating to take the prize money. "Eh, thanks. 1000 jewel?"
The judge nodded. "Well, ya gonna take it? Very good money we got here!"
"Uh, yes sir." Natsu took the prize money off the man's hand. "Thank you.. Again." Natsu looked at the crowd one last time, hearing one or two insults, then quickly exited the building where the event had taken place.
"Ugh. More rain. Welp, I guess I'll stay here for a while." Natsu complained.
"Why can't you just walk in the rain?" Another pedestrian asked him.
"Eh. Rain just.. Sort of hurts me." Natsu replied.
"It's like you're made out of fire?"
Natsu nodded, joke-like.
"Eh, here, I have another umbrella." The pedestrian took out a small, extendable umbrella out of her purse. "Here." The pedestrian handed Natsu the umbrella.
":o Arigato gozaimasu!" Natsu let out a smile.
"It's fine." The pedestrian waved at Natsu, then continued to walk in the rain.
"I guess that was a stroke of luck!" Natsu exclaimed, opening the umbrella. "Thank the dragons!" He began walking out, rain tapping on his umbrella. "Fresh air. For once is doesn't smell like grease and steak!... But I love that smell!" Natsu started pouting.
He walked more in the rain, jumping in every puddle he saw, and sometimes holding the umbrella in a weapon-fashion for fun.
Natsu spotted a girl carrying a suitcase while rubbing her eyes from tears. "Eh?! Why is she alone crying?!"
"Ota-san! Why are you so cold!" She came to a halt, then sat down quietly in front of a large pond.
Natsu quietly crept behind a tree, continuing to spy on her. "Don't do it..."
"If mother's gone... Then why can't I be as well?" Lucy murmured, Natsu hearing every word.
Lucy looked up in the sky, "Would you like to see me again, Mother?" Her tears stopped flowing.I said don't do it...
She stood up, letting go of her suitcase. "I'll see you soon, mother." she let out a smile, then took closer steps towards the body of water.
"NO!" Natsu quickly ran behind her, grasping onto her wrist, just as she took a step in the water.
Following Lucy
"I'll see you soon, mother." Lucy took smaller steps toward the water. Her last step landed in the water, and her rest of her body was ready to go along with it.
"NO!" She heard a voice behind, then felt a hard grasp around her wrist, preventing her from falling in.
The grasp immediately pulled her away from the deep body of water. Startled, yet full of anger, Lucy looked behind her, to reveal a pink and spikey-haired boy, huffing from running and pulling Lucy up.
"What did you think you were doing?!" The boy said with lots of hostility toward Lucy. "You don't want to die! You're too young!"
Lucy looked down, not saying a word. Then looked up a moment after, making direct eye contact with Natsu, her eyes filling up with warm tears again. "If your mother is dead, and your father kicked you out of the house for good, wouldn't you want to do the same?!" Lucy yelled, standing up and clenching her fists, "Admit it! You would want to! You look just as young as me, you're living against your own words!"
Natsu looked up at Lucy, frowning. "Maybe I would. But... We're still young, we have lots of things to live for." Natsu stood up, then proceeding to put his hands on Lucy's shoulders. "The past may be painful, but we're going to have a good future, I promise you."
Lucy's eyes widened, and the flow of her tears stopped. She hugged Natsu, smiling, because he had such beautiful words. "I'm Lucy."
Natsu let go, then smiled. I'm Natsu.
The two stood there, smiling at each other, while the dark clouds and the harsh rain cleared up, leaving a beautiful sunset behind them.
