The Last Queen Of Camelot (A MERLIN FANFIC) ☑️

QUEEN OF CAMELOT

Its the three days and the entire Camelot is in confusion. Athena case was getting worst,the wounds kept deepening, her face was losing color and she is dying slowly.

"You should rest now Arthur. You haven't slept a wink since yesterday",queen Ravenna said and touched his shoulder. Arthur held Athena's hand tight as tears filled his eyes. His wife is slowly fading away and there's nothing he can do about It. "Mother, how will i cope if she dies? I can't lose her",he says heartbroken. "Arthur, no one said anything about death. Athena is a fighter. We will find a cure Arthur am sure of it",queen Ravenna says and hug her son. It hurt her to see him hurt. After Athena passed out Arthur has not left her side, he sat beside her watching out, crying even praying for her. Ravenna looks up and prays they find the cure fast........

In Gaius Room......

"I am forced to think lady Athena illness is magical",Gaius told merlin. "I already thought so but there is nothing we can do. The magic has to be stronger than us",Merlin said. He dropped the book on spells he was reading and sat on a stool.  "It does not make sense. Why will anyone hurt the princess, she is too nice and wish no one harm",said merlin as he watch Gaius mix a portion.   "Anything to revenge the Pendragon will be done,merlin",he says as he pour the portion inside a bottle- "give this to Arthur, it should calm his nerves. The poor prince cant sleep",Gaius said. He handed Merlin the bottle and Merlin left to Arthur's room.

Back in the village.......

"Yes yes its working. I finally did it",a woman says as she pack her bag.  "Now just to present myself to the king then the princess Athena will be gone!! Arthur will be devastated ted and grief will make him quit the throne. King Elrod will match to Camelot and destroy it and finally Camelot will lay in ruin!!!!!!!!",she laughs over her menace plans. "That's right Martha, Athena will soon be dead",a seven headed beast with the body of lion and tail of scorpion said. Martha agreed. "Finally i will have my revenge on Uther",it said and they both laugh.  She have waited so long to have revenge and since the kingdom is in turmoil now is the perfect time. The woman laughs as she lock the doors and starts towards the palace for destruction........

***Arthur's Chambers***

Arthur use warm towel to clean Athena forward, she was sweating and her body filled with cuts. He noticed they kept increasing daily. He also saw that at night she made movements but her eyes won't open. Her face already lost color and yet she was breathing. He prayed that she was restored back to him, their love was just making sense now and he don't plan for it to end. Arthur felt a tear drop but didnt make attempt to wipe it.  

Merlin walks in and see Arthur holding Athena's hand tight. The prince do love his princess, he saw the tear drop and his heart dropped. Merlin cleared his throat, Arthur jumped in his seat, he wiped the tears and faced Merlin. "What do you want, Merlin?".
"Gaius asked me to give you this, it will help you relax"Merlin said handing the portion who scoffs. "I should relax? When my wife is dying slowly!", Arthur asked shouting. Merlin dropped the portion and walk to the other side of the bed so he was facing Arthur.

"Sire i believe Gaius will find a cure. I know he will",Merlin said.  "I can see her sufferings",-he stroke her hand-"she cries in her sleep and the cuts deepens every night. She screams from her sleep but she doesn't wake",Arthur said lost in thought.  "Am forced to think she was poisoned but by who?",Arthur ask.

"I dont think its the food, you both eat together and it cant be water. It definitely is not medicine she doesn't take any of Gaius portions",Merlin says, he cant tell Arthur he thinks its magic, Arthur don't believe any of it. Arthur ran his hand in his hair. "The question here is when did it start?",Arthur ask looking at the Merlin, who nods. "If anyone should know when it start it has to be........".

"Send for her!".

.......Arthur's chambers......

"You sent for me,my prince",celyn said bowing. Arthur was still seated in the same position he was since Athena was brought into his room. "Do you know what happened to her?",he ask not looking up. Celyn eyes filled with tears as she saw her mistress dying on the bed she lay, her body was covered but the marks on her neck was visible. "Forgive me my prince..... I could have come to you.......but",she wailed. Merlin who stood in the corner moved to console celyn. "What do you mean?",he ask gently.

"I noticed princess Athena was having these nightmare,she would wake up screaming and sweating hard. I asked questions but she always told me she was fine..."-celyn choked -"one day i noticed the marks on her back,she was bleeding. I wanted to tell you but she made me swear not to involve you",celyn concluded. Arthur stands. "So you mean to tell me her hands are not the only place with the cuts?",he ask. Celyn shook her head and move forward, she gently raise the sheet up, Merlin aviated his eyes as Arthur looked with shock,her entire body was covered in deep cut. "She doesn't want you to worry my prince. She said can watch anyone worry but definitely not you",celyn said and her eyes filled more with tears. Athena lay on the bed lifeless and out of color, her face as white as the sheets she laid on. Celyn too has tried all she can to heal her mistress but all proved abortive. She dared not send words to Athena's father else there will be war........
