QUEEN OF CAMELOT

Sure that Arthur was asleep Athena gently stood up, she wore a long robe red robe with cape, she threw the cape over her head and sneaked into Arthur's room. She was careful not to make any noise as she went straight to the cabinet beside his bed. Gently she opens the cabinet and brought out the keys. She stole a glance at Arthur sleeping, her heart became heavy. With the keys safe in her hand she ran out.

Athena picked up a torch as she made her way to the dungeon. She hid behind a pillars as she saw the guards sitting in front of Abigail's cell. "Teg esufnoc",she mutters under her breath and the guards starts sleeping. She ran to the door.

"Abigail?",she calls and opens the door, Abigail stands up and rush out into Athena's hands. "We dont have much time we must go now",Athena said and they both ran out. They burst into the hallway, they hid behind a pillar as guards patrol the hallway.

"I cant escape",Abigail wails.  "No ! Don't say that you can and you will i promise",Athena said and pat her face.

They run into the open courtyard just as the warning bell starts ringing. Athena groans she hate those bells. "Come on Abigail",she shouts as they got to the gates. As they were about to cross five knights appeared.

"Stop in the name of the king!!",one shouted and they pulled out their swords.

Athena picks up a stick and points it at them. One charge at her, she blocked it and kicked him. Another charge too, she push him aside. They fought and Athena heard footstep of more guards running down the stairs.

Abigail couldn't take it anymore. She flashed her eyes at the fire burning at one side and mutters, "nrub meht llama llik llafo meth gnidnats ereh NRUB!!!!!!!!".  A gush wind blows and the knights all fall down. Athena stared wide eye. She rush to one knight and checked his pulse. "He's dead. You killed them!!",she yells. Abigail rush to her,"we were wasting time",she said and pulled Athena up, athena help abigail cross the gate as they were about to run away a cool voice calls......

"Athena?".

Her heart sinks in pain. Arthur stood sword in his hand shocked. He bent down and checked the nearest knight. Arthur stood up shocked. "You killed them?",he ask in disbelief.

"I did not!",Athena defends tears rolling down her eyes. She followed Arthur's gaze. He was staring at the sword in her hand. She threw it down and shook her head......

"I swear Arthur i did not kill them!",Athena begged. Arthur threw his sword down and face her.

"Then who did?",he shouts.

"I wanted to save abigail and......".

"Who is Abigail? The prisoner?",he ask confuse. Athena nodded.  "Why Athena? Why? You tried to save the prisoner and killed five knights?",he ask running his hand in his hair, Athena has finally put him in trouble.

"She's my childhood friend!!! I cant let her die!!",Athena shouts back heartbroken and sad. Her tears were falling freely now. "Please Arthur help me. Please you cant tell anyone",she begged.

"You killed five knights? And.......".

"I did not Arthur! She did! I had to let her escape. You would do the same for your friends. Please she's..........".

They were interrupted by guards running into the room. Sir Leon spoke up. "We've been ordered by the king to arrest the princess".

Athena heart started beating fast, she have been caught. She cringed at the thought of been burnt at the stake. She looks back at Arthur who look away. Her heart sank as she followed them out.....

"What is the princess Athena's fault again?",queen Ravenna ask frowning at Uther.

"She is guilty of releasing the prisoner and killing five knights",king Uther said unfazed. A loud gasp is heard as everyone becomes quiet in the room.  "This is some type of joke,right?",Morgana ask.

"I wish it was",king Uther replied.

Queen Ravenna stood up. "Athena will never do that! This is absurd!!",she shouts at Uther.  Athena was praying hard the gods help her now. Uther was about to talk when Arthur burst in. He stands beside Athena.

"What is this am hearing father?",he ask.

"She released the prisoner and killed five knights",Uther repeated. Arthur look at Athena,there were tears in it. He sigh and face his father.

"That's impossible! Athena will never. She does not even know who the prisoner was not to say release her",Arthur defended.

"How do you explain her missing when it all happened?",Uther ask standing up.  "We were together when she asked to take a walk as she was unwell",Arthur said, lying for Athena's sake.

"What are you implying that she is innocent?",Uther ask facing his son who looks down.  "Athena is innocent of this charge. Its just a case of right place at the wrong time",Arthur replied. King Uther nodded. "Very well Athena is not guilty",he said.  Athena breathe down, Morgana run from her sit and hug Athena tight.

"Have the kingdom checked. I want the sorcerer",Uther ordered. Arthur looks down and say. "Am afraid she disappeared into thin air".

"You mean to tell me that she vanished?",Uther ask. Arthur nod. "Before your own eyes?",Uther ask again.

"Yes father",Arthur replied looking at his mother.  "The court is dismissed",Uther said and storms out, the queen follows followed by the remaining lords and lady present.

Athena sinks to her feet and gave into hot tears. Morgana kneels beside her and console. "Don't mind the king now",she soothe. Who said Athena is worried of the king? She is sacred of facing Arthur. She watch him exit the courtroom from her left eye. He was furious.

Athena took a deep breath as she knocked on Arthur's door. She heard rustling of papers as she opened the door softly.

"What do you want?",Arthur ask not looking up.

"I wanted to say thank you for earlier",she said playing with the edge of her cloak.

"If that's all you may leave ",Arthur said still not looking up. Athena nodded and turned to leave but changed her mind.

"Arthur? Am sorry for everything. I swear I wanted to tell you everything but i didn't know how to. I swear i.......".

Arthur hit the table causing Athena to jump. "I never asked for your love or heart Athena, all i ask is you acknowledge me. Tell me things. What if another knight saw you, you could be killed!!!",he shouted 

"I know am still sorry. I was not thinking properly",she said in a small voice. Arthur ran his hand in his head and turned back.  "Just one thing am asking you of. Let me in! Athena please!! I will let this pass. I cant eventually tell anyone that you helped the prisoner escape because you are my wife",he says. Athena nodded. "Thank you". By now her eyes were filled with tears. She ran outside into her room and sank on her bed. She inhaled deep and close her eyes, at least Abigail is far away from Camelot now and that's all that matters........
