Chapter 35: Ultrasound

Chapter 35

Katniss P.O.V.

I'm sitting in the waiting room with Peeta. Im so tense and so is he. We're finally finding out the genders of our babies. I say genders because it can be girls or boys or both.

I'm just sitting here and shake. I'm so nervous, and I don't even know why.

Peeta strokes my hands, it calms me down a bit.

"Baby it's going to go fine, we're just finding out the genders", Peeta says. "Okay, it's not only just, but there's only two alterantives right?"

Peeta is right. Oh I don't know why I'm so nervous.

"I know, I guess I'm just scared that it might be something wrong with the babies, that my sorrow, and my fear of losing you and my depression might have done something to the babies, I've heard that it can happen", I say.

Peeta wraps his arms around me.

"It's nothing wrong with our babies, they're fine, okay?" He says.

I nod my head.

"Katniss Mellark!" A nurse calls out.

Peeta and I stand up hand in hand and walk over to the nurse and follows her to a room.

"Just take a seat and the doctor will be right with you", she says.

The door closes and I take a seat on the bed. I start shaking again.

Peeta walks up to to me and take my head in his hands.

"Just remember that whatever happens or whatever news we get, it's our babies", Peeta says.

I smile and nod. I stop shaking and just hug Peetas chest.

"I love you so much", I say. "I don't want you to ever leave again".

Peeta can't look me in the eyes. He knows as well as I that he can get a call back to Afghanistan any second. And the thought of that really scares me. But I'm trying not to think about that. Not now anyways.

The door opens and my doctor comes in.

"Hello you two", she says. "Peeta I haven't offically met you, I'm doctor Sullivan and I'm Katniss and your babies doctor".

They shake hands and then dr. Sullivan helps me lie down the right way and she pours some cold yel at my belly, but at this time, I'm used to the cold.

Peeta takes my hand as the picture shows up on the screen.

"I've shown Katniss this, but Peeta look here and you'll see the first baby", dr. Sullivan says pointing at the screen. "And then if you look here, you see the other baby".

"Yeah I see it", Peeta says and I hear all the love in his voice.

"So I know that you're here to find out the genders", she smiles.

Peeta and I both nod.

"Well, you're having two baby girls", she smiles. "And they're both growing as they should and are both healthy".

Two baby girls. We're having two baby girls. I can't belive it. I feel silent tears flow down my eyes as I look at the sonogram. Two baby girls.

I feel something wet drop down on my hand. Tears.

I look up at Peeta and see the tears fall from his eyes.

"I know what I said, but I wanted so badly to have two girls", Peeta says, whiping away his tears as if he never cried. He looks down at me and whipe away my tears as well.

I wanted two boys, but I don't care. I just want the babies to be healthy and happy.

"It really doesn't matter, I just want them to be happy, but two girls..." Peeta says not being able to find a fitting word for his feelings.

"I know Peeta", I whisper.

Peeta takes a napkin and dries off the gel from my belly and I giggle because it tickels a bit. Peeta chuckles.

He kisses me. Then I feel how I'm being carried up by him.

"We have to tell the others", I say.

"Yeah", he says happily.

Of course we decide to tell Peeta's parents first of everyone about the gender of our babies.

As we come to the bakery we notice that everyone aregathered there. Why?

"What are you all doing here?" Peeta asks surprised.

"Well we knew who you we're going to tell first", Annie says

"Yeah and we all wanted to be here", Cato says holding baby Nathaniel in his arms.

"Oh you did?" I ask.

"Yeah", Gale says with his arm around Madge.

Oh did I forget to tell you? They're together now. Yeah after some screams and fights, a breakdown from me, them trying to not tell each other their feelings and me screaming at them that they both like each other, they finally kissed and got together. Yeah that maybe wasn't the best way to get them together, but I was so angry at them for shoving their feelings aside when they both got each other right here and I had Peeta in Afghanistan and couldn't be with him. So I just got angry and couldn't take their crap anymore.

And what does it really matter how I got them together? The important thing is that they are in fact togteher and are happy. They have to be very happy since they're engaged and all now.

"Yes!" Everyone shouts.

"Okay, well we do know the genders", Peeta says.

"So it's a boy and a girl?" Finnick asks clever.

"Why do you think that?" I ask.

"Becuase Peeta said 'genders'", he says slyly.

Peeta laughs. Oh his laugh, I just love to hear it. It's like music to my ears.

"Well, as the matter of fact we are not, we're having two baby girls", Peeta says.

"Oh my god! Just what I wanted!" Felicia says and runs up to hug me.

Everyone bombs us with hugs and kisses and pats on the backs. I'm just so happy. I have my Peeta back, we're having twins, two girls, and we have the best friends and family anyone can ever have. How can I not be happy?
