Jughead Jones

Our story is about a town, a small town, and the people who live in the town. From a distance, it presents itself like so many other small towns all over the world; safe, decent, innocent. Get closer, though, and you start seeing the shadows underneath.

The name of our town is Riverdale.

Every town has its secrets. Different towns cover different secrets; some have many, some have little. Some have small secrets, some have big ones. And some towns have secrets that are darker than others. And no matter what the town might think, the secrets will always hover over them. Some towns have to constantly look over their shoulders in fear of the shadows lurking behind them.

Riverdale is a town haunted by many shadows though, at a glance, it may seem like everything is fine. The shadows wait for something to rise and uncover the secrets, bringing them to the light. Something happened in Riverdale this summer, and it might have done just that.

The story starts with Jason and Cheryl Blossom. The inseparable twins. Early on the morning of July 4th, they drove to Sweetwater River for a boat ride. The events that took place on their outing would never have been expected.

The next thing we know is that later that day, Dilton Doiley and his scouts found Cheryl by the river, soaked.

The river was dragged in search for Jason's body, but it was never found. Shortly after, Cheryl stated that, as they were in their boat, her glove had fallen into the water. Trying to retrieve it, Jason tipped the boat, causing both of them to fall into the water. Only one of them got out. An empty casket was buried a week later.

As the mystery of Jason's death settled like fog upon Riverdale, more mysteries seemed to roll in. One of them was Veronica Lodge, a girl from New York and a rich family. Her father Hiram Lodge's arrest was the reason she and her mother would move back to her parents' home town.

And the other mystery, another girl. Like Veronica, soon to join our local Riverdale High. But she'd lived here before. It wasn't until seven years ago that she moved away. Not much else was said about this new girl, except that she had moved back from California. Beyond her whereabouts, it seemed as if she had no past. And it wasn't clear about who was covering something up. Her name was Madison Parker. And a sense of sad nostalgia danced in her eyes as she entered Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe.
