"Hey Tom" I called
"Yeah" he returned
"Is it alright if I take my break early, gotta lot I'm energy to burn off gonna go for a run"
"Yeah, go ahead, keep your pager on" he said
"Will do" I grasped. With that I walked briskly to the locker room and threw on my sweats and my grey Nikes

Running at my age is much, MUCH harder than I thought it would be.

"Help" a weak distant sound called.
"Help me, please help me" the voice continued. I followed the voice off the running track and behind the bushes. I saw a shocking sight before me.

"Kevin, Kevin, fuck are, are you ok, what happened" I have know Kevin since he was a little boy swinging off his father's muscular arms as he walked around the station.

"Black, black hood, he, he was here" Kevin stuttered

"Control I'm reporting a 10-33, urgent medical assistance to fox forest 300 yards east from lovers lane"
I set my phone down and lifted Kevin's shirt up to get a closer look. He had a gun shot wound to his lower abdomen. I briskly applied deep pressure over the wound.

"You, you have to tell my dad I'm sorry"Kevin Choked

"Sorry, sorry for what"I confused

"I, I, I, dated someone, someone I shouldn't have, a, a serpent, a southside serpent"

I was shocked, to me Kevin was still the little boy cuddled up in his father's work chair reading Harry Potter and other fictional books. To think now he is dating dodgy gang members it disappointed him.

"Please tell him I never meant to hurt him, I just needed freedom from being perfect, freedom from being me"

And with that Kevin's eyes shut.
