19 year old Philip Hamilton challenged 27 year old Eacker into a duel.
Hamilton said "did your friends attempt to negotiate a peace?" meaning that Price and Philip went to visit a theatre until they saw Eacker and confronted him and challenged him to a duel.
Eacker called them "damned rascals" so, as was common at the time, they each challenged Eacker to a duel. Price faced the 27-year-old Eacker in a duel on November 22. Shots were exchanged but neither party was injured. The following day, Eacker fatally shot the 19-year-old Hamilton in a second duel.
Eacker regretted it, when he knew Philip died. He drank alcohol multiple times (idk how many times a day) until he died.
Btw Eacker supports Burr so that's why he made a speech about Hamilton.
