Aaron and I had been hanging out together for the past couple weeks, and started becoming close friends. It became obvious to me that I was the only friend Aaron had in school, but that didn't discourage me from wanting to be friends with him. He was a quiet person, and I could see why people didn't like him, as he could look like a real jerk. Aaron was sweet though, and I could confine in him things I couldn't with anyone else, and vice versa.

Actually, I had learned quite a bit about Aaron, even though he was secretive about his family. But I could understand that, and from what I knew, they weren't home much, and Aaron didn't like talking about them. I had told him about my mother and her passing, and about how stupidly protective my dad is.

Of course chatting and being around Aaron so much led to my father being a little suspicious and more naggy than usually, but I always told him I was just with a friend, and since I had recently met Kawaii~Chan and he didn't have her parents number, she was one of my go to lies.

Speaking of my friends, they had started teasing me about being friends with Aaron more as well, even calling him my boyfriend on occasion. That was one of the reasons I didn't really want Aaron to become part of our friend group, it would be awkward with their teasing. Well, that and he would be the only boy with us when we hung out, unless Katelyn dragged along Jeffery or Aphmau had a new boy hanging out with her. Aaron also just didn't want to be friends with them; he isn't really a people person.

But this all brings us to now, my 16th birthday. I know most girls wanted a big extravagant sweet 16, but I just decided to have a casual party tomorrow on Saturday, since today was a Friday and we had school and my dad had work.

I didn't see Aaron as much as I would have liked today, and I didn't even sit with him at lunch like normally. So my school day consisted of hanging out with Kawaii~Chan, Aphmau, Katelyn, and Teony, and doing the usual boring school work.

"So.. you aren't doing anything special today?" Teony asked.

Teony and I had the same math class, and normally when it came to partner studying we would we each other's partner.

"No, just going to have a nice dinner with my dad, have some cupcakes. The real party's going to be tomorrow when we don't have school," I explained to her, pausing as I read for a math term's definition.

Teony smiled cheekily at me as she sat down her pencil and placed her head in her hands. "So... that's it? After school you're going to go straight home and then have dinner with your dad?" She asked.

"No," I replied, watching her grin from the corner of my eye as I scribbled down a note in my notebook, "I have to do my homework and clean my room before dinner."

Teony's face fell as she frowned at me and shook her head.

I chuckled to myself as the bell rang and ended the school day. We packed up our stuff and left to meet Katelyn and Aphmau by my locker, where we were meeting to walk home together.

"But seriously, no dates with anyone special tonight?" She asked, specifically not saying Aaron's name because she knew how it annoyed me when they asked those questions about him, so that was her loophole.

"No, really, no dates," I told her as we stopped at my locker, and I stuffed in the math textbook I wouldn't be needing for homework tonight.

Just as I was shutting the locker, Laurence popped up next to me.
