Death

Why do people
fear death, their
eternal slumber?

•••

Their wealth,
their progress,
their loved ones,
their goal,
a promise,
and just wanting
to live

•••

These are a few
reasons why people
fear death...

•••

What if death was
something not to
be feared?

•••

Instead, it was
something to
embrace?

•••

Afterall, once you
embrace death...
you escape fear

•••

The will to
survive comes from
warmth...from love...

•••

I don't want
to give up on
that warmth...

•••

But what if my
warmth gives up
on me before I do?

•••

What will my
cold and frozen
self do then?

•••

...My warmth
comes from a
person...

•••

Because of them, I
could let go of someone
toxic long ago.

•••

If I give up
on that warmth
...I'm hallow...

•••

I don't want to
be hallow...I don't
ever want to be...

•••

But one day,
something will
happen to them...

•••

I fear losing
my warmth,
not death.

•••

For embracing
death means escaping
my future cold self...

The idea of warmth is why we live and death should be embraced came from the unpopular manga called 'Model' by Lee So-Young. I agreed with what the So-Young portrayed in the manga so I made a poem with my own thoughts and feelings wrapped around their idea. Partial credit of this poem belongs to Lee So-Young.
