CHAPTER 14

Point out errors, unedited

I spend the rest of the time the movie is playing texting CM, making plans to meet up with him tomorrow. I suggest that we meet up outside the Walgreens again, but he insists on picking me up from my house, meaning I have to get there before he does. I wonder who actually lives in the house I claimed to be mine, a human obviously. Hopefully they won't notice the teenage vampire lurking around their home and call the police. That won't end well.

The credits signal the end of the movie and I tuck my cellphone into my pocket. I glance around at everyone in confusion. Almost everyone is asleep, apart from Libba. Viva is sprawled out across the couch she's on, her head hanging back slightly over the arm of the couch, Hennie has somehow ended up on the floor, curled up into a little ball, and Libby is laying asleep, her head in her sister's lap. My gaze meets Libba, who is just realizing that everyone around us is in dream land as well.

She looks down at her sister's head in her lap and then back up at me, one of her eyebrows raising. "And then there were two..."

"I can't believe they're all sleep," I mutter, shaking my head. "It's hardly seven o'clock."

"This movie did last longer than I thought it would," she comments, off-handedly. "But I think my sister went to sleep on purpose. The little wimp."

A snort of laughter escapes from me. That's probably true. "Let's watch something else then." I suggest, rising from the couch, stretching out my limbs in the process.

She shakes her head negatively in response, pushing her blonde hair behind her ear. "I've got a better idea. Let's do something fun, it's Saturday."

        "Like?"

"I don't know, do I have to think of everything?"

I give her a flat look.

Libba cracks a smile. "We could go exploring! I've been wanting to get a good look of this place for a while now."

I grimace, nibbling on my bottom lip. "I don't know, Libbs, we could get in trouble..."

"What's the worst that can happen? You've already got kitchen duties."

"I could get my time expanded..."

Libba rolls her eyes. "There is nothing you can say, Val. You're coming and that's that."

I huff. "Well, since I have no say in the matter, at least let me pee first." She shrugs indifferently as I cross the room into the bathroom, shutting and locking the door behind me. One time, when I was brushing my teeth Delilah just burst in, giggling for half a minute before finally leaving. It's not like I was on the toilet, but it was still embarrassing. Something isn't right in that girl's head...

A minute later I'm washing my hands, and hear a loud thump coming from outside the bathroom. Immediately my heart beat increases speed. Is it a burglar? I frown. How would a burglar make it to our dorm unnoticed? We're in a school full of teenage girls, who I'm sure would have no problem screaming their heads off if someone broke in...

Turning the water off, I wipe my wet hands on the sweat pants I'm wearing and cautiously open the bathroom door. There doesn't seem to be anyone out of place. I get further into the room where everyone is still sleeping. Libba is standing, looking down at the floor where I find a sleeping Libby, who subconsciously rubs her back in her sleep.
