"It's a pleasure to see you again, Mrs. Cullen." I greet the mother to the Cullen children.
"Welcome back, dear." Esme smiles warmly at me. "Could I get you anything to eat?"
"No thanks." I shake my head.
"Jasper's guitar is in his room." Alice grabs my hand, tugging me up the stairs after her.
"Careful!" Esme calls up after us as the others follow behind.
Jasper's room was simple. It was a royal blue color, a large flag takes up most of the wall above his bed with perfectly made covers. He had a bookshelf, littered with fading book covers.
Tucked by his desk was his guitar.
"Is that an Alvarez?" I drool at the sight of the expensive guitar. They usually go for two thousand dollars.
"It is indeed." Jasper picks the guitar up from the stand. "Here."
"Woah!" I hold my hands up, backing up. "I can't touch that!"
"Why?" Alice questioned. "I thought you wanted to play?"
"I do, believe me, I do." I glance at the guitar. "But I might mess it up or break it."
"Nonsense. This thing has been around Emmett for years and it's still in one piece." Edward smirks.
"Here, sit." Jasper pulls out the stool from his desk and I take a seat.
Jasper moves to pull the strap over my head, going slowly.
The guitar in my lap was worth more than everything I owned.
Jasper kneels in front of me when I don't move to touch the guitar. He grasps my hand, bringing it up to the neck of the guitar and curling my fingers around it. He takes my other one, gently brushing them down the strings in a light strum.
Oh my god, the sound. I didn't know guitars could sound like this.
Jasper seems so sense my eagerness and steps back as my fingers pluck at the strings.
"What should I play?" I was testing every chord I could think of, relishing in the hum as the notes hit the air.
"Something dirty!" Emmett calls out.
"Something emotional." Jasper suggests.
"Something classic." Edward offers.
"Okay. Three songs." I nod. "First one."
I purse my lips in thought before an idea hits me.
I start to play the beginning of the tune. "This is for you Emmett."
Emmett grins when I start.
"Like the legend of the phoenix, all ends with beginnings. What keeps the planet spinning. The force of love beginning. We've come to far to give up who we are. So let's raise the bar and our cups to the stars." I grin at Emmett. "She's up all night to get some, she's up all night for good fun, I'm up all night to get lucky." (Get Lucky//Daft Punk)
I stop and Emmett grabs my shoulders. "That was the best thing I ever heard."
"Okay. Now for Jasper." I take a few moments before completely change the tune. "Ready?"
Jasper lets out a nod, curious , golden eyes watching my fingers pick at the strings.
"I walk through the valley with the shadow of death. And I fear no evil because I'm blind to it. And my mind, my gun, then comfort me. Because I know I'll kill my enemies when they come. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life. And I will dwell on this earth forevermore. Said I walk beside the still waters and they restore my soul. But I can't walk on the path of the right, because I'm wrong." I finish, a little slower. (Through the Valley//Shawn James)
