((I just read Edgar Allan Poe's 'Annabel Lee' today and aah I loved it
I'm lowkey making a Netflix adaption of it lmao))

Once in a land not far from here
Lived a lady named Marilyn May
This girl is my sunshine, my moon
My stars, my Marilyn May.

As time went on and we got older
So did her home, broken and weak
And one dark day, havoc would wreak
And the house would soon burn and smolder.

While the house went aflame
Stuck inside was my Marilyn May
I had to help! But what could I do
Other then climb in and meet my doom?

Well, I reasoned, I'd rather do that
Than leave my Marilyn May to burn
Inside that wicked old house of hers,
So I went inside the burning shack.

Then, there was Marilyn, her skin turning red
As was mine, in this horrible, boiling shed,
But I didn't care, because I wasn't away
From my precious, my dearest, Marilyn May.

The sirens were blaring right outside,
But I dared not to leave her side
Because she is my entire life,
My past, my present, my loving wife.

And as we held each other dear,
Our time together nearing it's end
I gave her one last kiss, for here
Our lives would soon be impossible to mend.

That's how we died, Marilyn and I,
Burning in her home and being held close,
But we're still around, though not seen by most
As we float above the ashes, Marilyn and I.

My beautiful Marilyn May and I.
My scarred Marilyn May and I.
My unhappy Marilyn May and I.
Marilyn May. Happy, am I.
