I woke up with the sting feeling from the bruises in my left arm, they appeared a dark purple/red mix.
I winced at the pain and got up from my bed, I noticed that George was missing along with my phone.
I walk over to the bathroom to start my skincare routine and I notice that I have a black eye.
What happened last night? I thought I fell asleep in his arms.

Soon, I heard George calling me from the living room.
I followed his voice and asked what was wrong.

"You're what's wrong" , he replies.

I stand there confused, scratching my head.

He returns my phone, opened with a text message I had with a friend.

"I was just talking with a friend, George." I reply.

"Yeah, a 'friend'." , he says making air quotations with his fingers.

His face turned into a frown. I felt bad for him.

"Look. I didn't mean to hurt you, I was stressed and I was angry when I saw the text pop up."

"So you used me as a punching bag, George? I didn't even remember you doing this to me.."

"I won't do it again, I promise."

"If you're going to snoop through my phone, it's only fair that I at least know your passcode too."

He hesitates for a few seconds, wincing at what I just said.

"Okay." , he murmurs.

He tells me the password and I keep it embed in my memory.

I walk to the kitchen and search for an ace bandage, which I then wrap around my arm.

"Hungry?" , he asks, walking towards me.

My mind dazed off.

I was thinking about our graduation 3 years ago.

//////////////////////////////

3 years ago:

Graduation.

Where I was finally free from that hell hole we call education.
George and I have never been closer to each other, and I was excited.

Unfortunately, I was the valedictorian. And I had to give a massive speech about life and all that.
But as I said my speech, I couldn't stop looking at him.

He made my heart feel warm, he believed in me.
So I made that speech with my head up high and smile on my face.

Minutes later, we were throwing our hats in the air and we kissed under them.

It felt like eternity. Like the whole world didn't matter to us, as long as we had each other.

He soon pulls away from the kiss and looks at me with a grin on his face.

"George, what's up?" I ask with a fake sour face.

"So.....what would you think if I told you....I got us an apartment.", he replies holding two keys up in the air for me to see.

I jumped up in excitement, "Oh my JOJI!"
I squeal and hug in response.

"So I take that as a yes?" , he laughs, hugging back

"I'd obviously have to ask my mom about that though", I frown.

"Nope! I talked to her two weeks ago about it. She approved!"

"You're the best, you know that?"

"Hell yeah, but you're better."

I foolishly grin at him and we share another kiss.

My life was going great.

I snap out my haze as soon as I hear him calling my name.

"Uh what? Yeah I'm hungry, food" , I babble.

He chuckles at my babble.

"You're adorable."

He pulls some eggs from the fridge and starts breaking them.

"I'm gonna go to the bathroom for a bit, be right back."

He kissed my cheek, "alright babe"

I close the door behind me and slide onto the floor.

I let out quiet sobs as I look at my newly bruised arm.

Why would he continue doing this to me?

Why does he suddenly care?
