Breaks Can Lead To Breakthroughs

An unsurprising yawn struck Wasabi. As he rubbed at his strained, heavy eyes, he checked the time on his phone. 9:34. He had been at his latest school project for hours now. He would have assumed by now that some type of distraction would have occurred. No alerting messages of a villain to take down. No Fred barging in with food from Noodle Burger. He had to admit, a peaceful day of work with no interruptions felt nice. Unfortunately for him, stress was beginning to weigh down which meant it was time for a well-deserved break. Wasabi didn't mind this outcome; some of his best ideas come to mind when he's not trying.

He looked around the unusually quiet nerd lab. Gogo and Fred were nowhere to be seen. Hiro was most likely home with Baymax. Wasabi peered over the wall that separated his station from Honey Lemon's. He spared a second to smile as he watched her happily create a chemical compound. Despite her normal perkiness, he noticed that working too long was starting to exhaust her too. Small yawns would interrupt her from jotting notes. Dark circles appeared under her eyes. Wasabi was unsure if she had been working longer than him, but he couldn't allow her to go on like this any longer.

"H-hey, Honey Lemon," he stuttered. He cleared his throat as she looked his way. "Been working for a while too, huh?"

The chemical engineering major nodded. "Yeah," she said, stretching her arms over her head. "I've been at it for hours."

"Me too." Wasabi's face lit up as an idea came to mind. "Maybe we could take a yoga break. You know...together?"

Honey Lemon gasped at the offer. "That would be great! Let me get changed real quick, okay?"

"Sure thing," Wasabi understood, having to get changed as well.

He took in a deep, shuddered breath. Doing yoga with Honey Lemon was bound to be relaxing. There was no chance of him being flung in the air or injured in any way. Perhaps teaching Baymax about yoga wasn't the greatest idea. Unfortunately, Wasabi couldn't deny his active nerves. Recently, his feelings for his friend continued to grow with each passing day. He wanted to tell her, but between schoolwork and superhero duties, he couldn't find the right time to do so. Maybe during a yoga session wasn't the best plan, but he was running out of options.

Meanwhile, Honey Lemon couldn't get the smile off her face as she put her hair up into a bun. Sure, she was looking forward to not having loud music blasting in her ears (courtesy of Gogo), but that's not what had her so giddy. Spending some quality, relaxing time with her close friend lifted her weary spirits. Maybe it was because she also had a little crush on Wasabi. Or maybe she simply enjoyed doing yoga. Whatever the case, she was looking forward to it.

Reentering the lab, Honey noticed that Wasabi had everything set up. Two yoga mats on the floor as well as his exercise ball. She giggled to herself knowing how much he loves it. "You think we'll use the big ball?"

Wasabi nervously chuckled at her question. "Depends on what we do. I try to get as much use out of it as I can." Come on. Be cool, man. "Let's begin our breathing exercises."

The two sat down on their respective mats. It didn't take long before their breathing was in sync with one another. Yet, both of them were having a difficult time staying focused. Wasabi's stomach did flips while he internally debated on what to say to Honey Lemon. That is if he chose to say anything at all. Honey Lemon, however, suppressed her joy as she thought of a way to connect deeper with him.

Breathing techniques were within Wasabi's comfort zone, but he was far from becoming relaxed. His shoulders tensed against his neck. He took shorter breaths in than usual. If Baymax was around, his excess stress alert would be going off every other second. He almost wished he hadn't asked Honey to join him. Of course, it would have been rude not to. She was the one that highly recommended him to take a yoga elective.
