Alexa pulled down the copper goggles onto her electric blue eyes and secured the strap of her helmet so it would not to fall off during the flight.

She tightened the brown-leather belt around her waist and made sure that her emergency backpack was in place. Alexa arranged the collar of her blouse and inserted the copper bracelets in both her arms and legs. She was ready, nervous and excited; but not afraid.

This was her passion.
Her life.
Her source of freedom.

She threw a blinding smile at her teacher, Ms Flyer, who returned it with an encouraging nod. This was the last lesson she will ever have with her.

Alexa was one of Ms Flyer's best students and it saddened her that she was already leaving. The past few years she had spent with her felt truly magical. Alexa's persistent personality and the love she had shown towards her skill had surely left a mark in her heart. She was certain she will never forget her and that she will keep asking to find out about her latest progress. Ms Flyer reached for her pen and her notebook and prepared to start assessing her for the last time. She then grabbed the whistle which hung around her neck and blew.

After hearing the sharp blow of the whistle, Alexa instantly separated her legs within the width of her shoulders and stretched her arms out at 35 degree angles, each arm held at her side. Once she obtained her starting position, Ms Flyer blew the whistle for the second time. At that moment, Alexa summoned gusts of air out through the palms of her hands and the soles of her feet from tiny metal machines implanted inside her. She took off at an incredible speed.

Her smile turned peaceful and she let her trained body change positions accordingly. She was doing this all on instinct. That was how much she was confident at the art. The wind played with the luscious brown hair that peeked out of her helmet and she enjoyed feeling the adrenaline pumping around her body. She manoeuvred through the air and sliced clouds in two.

She dodged all the obstacles that were aimed at her way and performed all kinds of tricks she picked up from all those years staring wide-eyed at the Celestial Police as they did their job.

Her dream was to become a part of the amazing Celestial Police, the people that took care of the city from above. She knew, with all her heart, that this dream was edging closer and turning more real every day.

Alexa knew she had a chance of achieving her life goal.

When she heard the sound of the whistle for the third time, she began preparing to land. In her landing position, she slowly decreased the gusts of air that came out of her palms and feet, helping her land gently. When her feet touched the floor, Ms Flyer began marching towards her. After congratulating her on her excellent performance, she hugged her and wished her good luck.

The real exam was going to be tough. It not only tested her flying skills, but also her intellectual and emotional abilities.

She was ready.
