Atalanta, captain of the girls' soccer team and junior year sports prodigy, had decided long back that she wouldn't date anyone. There just wasn't enough time for her to indulge in flirting and romance and whatnot. To steer clear of blokes who never got the fact that no meant no, she would make them run against her in a foot race. Whoever won would get their way. This arrangement proved to be quite advantageous since no one beats Atalanta in a race.
But as she begins to notice the budding feelings she has developed for the charming Hippomenes, she starts to think that maybe it isn't such a bad idea to give the whole dating thing a try. Though, of course, he has to beat her in the race which she is too stubborn to call off.
