Peggy's POV
Alex never called. He promised he'd call! I'm stressing out so hard! What if something happened?! Did he get in a car crash!? Did he get mugged!? "Okay, Peggy. Calm down, he's probably fine. Maybe he just forgot about you and Lizzie and Angie and all his other friends and his old life and-"
"Pegs!" Angie broke me away from my rant. "Why don't we just go check on him?" She offered. I glanced over to see 'Liza nod at the idea. I smiled and nodded along as well. "We do have his address, remember?" Angie pointed out. "Hold on," Besty began, "Didn't he give that to us for emergencies only?" She said. I waved my hand dissmissevly. "This could be an emergency." I said, "We don't know where he is."
"Right." 'Liza said slowly. "We should at least call him, to let him know that we're coming." Angie and I nodded in agreement. The three of us piled into the car and picked up Maria on the way. She was one of Alex's best friends too, so it was only fair. Plus. . . Eliza didn't want to go without her Soulmate. Angie was driving so I took the passenger seat and pulled out my phone. I clicked on Lexi's contact and waited for him to pick up. But he didn't. I was starting to get more and more worried. "Um, girls?" I started as Angie started the car. My sisters and Maria hummed in response. "He didn't pick up." I said. Angelica's eyebrows furrowed and she whipped out of our driveway. "Hang on girls! We've got a code blue! Traffic laws, prepare to be ignored!" She shouted as she sped off down the road. Needleass to say, the rest of us were screaming as we said our possible last words to each other.
You know how it's supposed to be a five hour drive from us to Alex? It took us two and a half hours. Angie pulled carefully into the parking lot by Alex's apartment building. 'Liza, Mari and I took a second to catch our breath. "Angie what the fuck!?" I yelled. My oldest sister simply shrugged and got out of the car. I followed and Eliza and Maria did the same. Eliza pulled out her phone and checked something. "It's apartment 4D!" She informed us. "Oh hello girls! Can I hel-"
"No time sorry!" I interrupted the receptionist and we all raced up the stairs. The was no time for elevators now. We arrived on the fourth floor, winded and practically dying. Eliza shakily knocked on the door. We waited. Nothing. She knocked again, louder this time. Maria pressed her ear to the door. "Hear anything?" 'Liza whispered. Maria hesitated before saying, "Nothing."
"Alright, fuck it." Angie decided, "Outa the way!" Lizzie and Mari leapt back as Angie swung her leg up. She then proceeded to kick the door open. "Alexander James Hamilton are you in here!" She screamed. . . no response. "Maybe he's at John's house?" Maria offered. We all gained a bit of hope for a second. "Wait." Eliza said, looking around. "This place is empty." She finished. And of course, we were now a hundred times more worried. "Should we go check Laurens's place?" I asked carefully. The others nodded. "Yeah we should check, just in case." Angie agreed. "Wait where does he live?" Eliza asked.
I pulled out my phone and checked my texts. "Got his address." I spoke up. "Great, let's go!" Mari declared. That's how we ended up here. The four of us all running down the street as a very angry man screamed from behind us. I should probably explain. So, we went to John's house. All of us terrified that our best friend may be dead. We slowly came up the driveway and I knocked on the door. There was a car in the driveway so I figured someone was home. I was right. And that person was Mr. Laurens. A big, gruff man opened the door. "What do you want?" He demanded. He was tall and had reddish brown, curly hair. This had to be the guy. "A-are you um, Mr. Laurens?" Maria asked from behind me. "Yes. Why?" He cocked an eyebrow. "Um we were looking for your son, John." Angie answered. The guy's expression hardened to anger. "What would you need a brat like him for?" He asked. Angie and I exchanged a worried look. "Well our friend and your son and Soulmates and-"
"That boy is no son of mine!" Mr. Laurens bellowed. It was then that we decided to run. This man couldn't be mentally sound and it was our safest bet. We'd parked Angie's car at the bottom of the street but kind of abandoned it. We kept running down the street. "Okay, so if that was John's dad-" Angie began, "Where the hell is John!?" She huffed. "It sounds like he doesn't live there anymore!" I stressed. Eliza and Maria nodded. "What if-" Maria began before we crashed into something and all toppled down.
John's POV
"Laf said to get lemons for some reas-" I started but was cut off when four screaming bodies tackled me to the ground. I made a strangled noise of surprise as we all fell. "John!" Herc yelled. "Oh my god! We are so sorry!" One of the girls apolgized as they slowly climbed off of me. The last and shortest one got up and offered me a hand. I took it. "Wait. . .John, John Laurens?" She asked as she pulled me up. "Uh yeah? And you ar-"
"Where's Alex!?" She pleaded and gripped my shoulders. I blinked in confusion. "Are you Peggy?" I asked and she nodded quickly. "Oh jeez' that explains a lot." I muttered. "Uh, Alex is fine. He's just at Laf's house." I explained. Peggy and, who I was assuming were her sisters and Maria looked at each other. Peggy let go of my shoulders."Did I miss something?" Hercules asked. Peggy drew in a breath. "We're Alex's friends from the city, he was supposed to call us when he got here but he didn't. So we got really worried and drove over here because he gave us the address of his apartment building so we checked there but his apartment was empty so then we went to your house and John your dad is hella weird so we ran and then we sorta crashed into you." Peggy explained all in one breath. I took a second to process what Peggy had said. "Wow." Was all I could say. Hercules whistled, "You guys did all that today? It's not even one PM yet!" He exclaimed. Peggy and the others nodded. "We've been called 'crazy' on a few occasions." The tallest girl, probably Angelica, said while doing air quotes on the word 'crazy.'
I laughed at that and the girls smiled. "Uh, we were just going to get some groceries. If you come with us, we can take you to Laf's." Herc pointed out. "Sounds great!" Agreed the girl with long straight hair. So off we went.
