He sat in a dark room, and he kept himself in cloaked in shadows. The communicator screen in front of him was similarly dark, though the connection was live.

"I require a Miotalan male specimen."

The words came through both a translator and a synthesiser, leaving no trace of the original voice to be recorded. He was unconcerned. He also took similar precautions.

"A Miotalan male?" He drew out the words. "I do not know. I do not wish to draw attention. A Miotalan male is risky."

The voice emanating from the communicator named an astronomical price, and he found himself considering the prospect. There was the possibility of ridding himself of someone who had been getting too close to his operation after all.

"Double that, and you may consider it done."

The voice swore, and the sound of the profanity after it had been mangled by a translating program amused the man in the shadows almost as much as the fact that the voice had no choice but to agree to his price.

"If I am to pay double I would like a human female included. The last one... expired."

"Agreed."

After all, humans were easy to acquire. Humans were so weak.
