Forest Spirit

Wind is singing to the night
Moonlight caresses fragile leaf
Waterfalls cascade, trying to meet the horizon
Wolves begin their nocturnal ritual

Embrace the rough bark of the pine
The softness of a flower petal
Stones shaped by the river's passage
Moss growing on the side of a tree

The tears of angels begin to fall
Blocking out the light of the stars
The plants reveal their choicest greens
Reveling in the state of continued journeys

Will be one day learn from forest creatures
From a summarized paragraph
And a flat, lifeless picture
Another symptom of a wounded world

The grace of the deer becomes forgotten
None have seen a squirrel's fluffy tail
Or heard the call of the lonely owl
They join the dragon and the unicorn
