Umineko is a masterpiece (not the anime. The anime was the worst and deserves to burn in hell or spend the rest of time in purgatory even though it should be Studio DEEN's fault) and everyone here should  and need to read it! Doesn't matter if you read the manga or play the games (although the first half alone has a playtime of ~50 hours and including the second half would be ~150 hours of visual novels) just read it! Of you get the game on Steam I recommend the PS3 patch because it

a) the sprites have voiced lines
b) the PS3 sprites, unlike the steam ones, don't look constipated all the time
c) although I also like the original sprites drawn by the original author, the characters have muffin hands...

But I've heard there are some problems with the PS3 patch so be careful. Read the reviews beforehand.

It is a murder mystery though, so it has gore and other disturbing stuff (some of the really disturbing stuff are gore-free so o(*ﾟ▽ﾟ*)o) but just look at Kanon
