~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter 30:
I woke up to an empty bus. Groaning, I let myself down from my bunk. I checked my phone to see it was ten in the morning and I had one unread text. I clicked to open it.
Ky: happy bday ;)
Me: happy bday to you too! (;
I laughed slightly. We always did this. For some reason we found it funny when we texted each other happy birthday, since we had the same birthday. I don't know. It was just, like, a tradition for us. Our birthday was one of the days we got along very well.
After I sent the message, I started to get dressed. It actually wasn't too hard to change without help. Guess I didn't need Jayy after all.
I pulled on ripped black skinny jeans and an Asking Alexandria t-shirt. I hadn't talked to Danny since the day he had acted like a kidnapper, but I really wanted to go meet the band. They seemed so cool. Maybe wearing their merch would make them smile.
I chuckled at my way of thinking before walking outside. Then I realized I had no shoes. Oh well, I decided, shrugging. I could be like Christofer for the day.
I glanced around but saw no one. What the heck? Where were we anyways? Oklahoma? I saw a huge tent that looked kind of like a circus tent, except black with the different band logos on it. I could vaguely hear music playing inside, so I headed over. Must be the make-shift stage.
I was correct. Inside, there was a stage and a large crowd. People of many ages were dancing to the music played by the band onstage: Black Veil Brides. Andy smiled over at me while singing and I waved at him before continuing backstage. And ran right into Christofer.
"Oh, hey, I was just coming to get you," he said, holding me steady.
I glanced up at his face with the tear tattoos on his right cheek and the spider bites on his bottom lip. "Why'd you let me sleep in?"
He shrugged. "You'd had a rough night. We figured it'd be best, you know?"
I grimaced and nodded. "So, how much of that did you hear?"
"Well, once you guys started shouting, I'm pretty sure every body heard." I clenched my eyes shut and groaned. That was really embarrassing.
"Hey, you alright Rylee?" My eyes popped open to see Jordan standing beside Christofer. I shrugged and nodded. He smiled. "Good."
I was a little disappointed that nobody had acknowledged my birthday. I was sure I had told them, right? And even if I hadn't, it had been mentioned a few times in the shouting match last night. I didn't want presents, but a single 'Happy birthday Rylee' would really cheer me up.
Unfortunately, it seemed that no one remembered. I sighed when Chris and Jordan started talking about some show they had done years ago. "I'll be right back," I muttered, catching sight of Asking Alexandria. I made my way to the five British dudes. "Hey Danny!"
Danny Worsnop turned and grinned at me. "Hello there Rylee. Lovin' the shirt."
I smiled. "Wore it for you, of course." I winked, trying to keep a straight face, but failing.
"Hey, let me through," the shaggy haired guitarist said, pushing through the people in front of him. He gave a crooked smile. "Ello beautiful, remember me? I'm Ben."
Ah, yes. He was one of the people who had played truth or dare with us at the graduation party. "Hello again Ben," I greeted, smiling even bigger. He was my favorite of the Asking Alexandria band members. Remembering that we'd never really been introduced, I held out my hand. "Uhm, I'm Rylee."
