Unloved

For as long as I could remember I was unloved in my family. Only my twin Kaname loved me. Today I sat in my room that had only one small window, a broken bed, a nightstand, and.....I'm not even sure you could call it a dresser. My room was a dark sad blue, adding to the loneliness I felt. I could only feel empty. I sighed as I felt my stomach rumble. I got up and went to the kitchen, the servants greeted me and asked if they could make me something.
"No, thank you. I'll make it myself." I said. They nodded in understanding. Unfortunately, being raised like I was made me very independent. I mostly do things myself. Anyway, I made a simple sandwich and then walked back to my room. Unfortunately I had to pass through the living room, where my so called family was gushing over their little Yuki, my spoiled brat of a sister. I expected them to just ignore me, like they always. Only Kaname would notice me passing by. His glance was enough for me to know he cared to wonder if I was doing okay this morning. However they all glanced at me making me freeze midstep. Yuki sneered at me while Haruka and Juri blinked. I gave them a cold glare, making them flinch.
"What? Am I disturbing you, somehow?" I said venomously. I didn't wait for a response, I just went back to my room to eat my sandwich. After an hour, I was laying down when Kaname came in to my room. I immediately grinned making him smile too. I got up and hugged him.
"Kana-nii." I said. He chuckled.
"Alec, my little lion." He said. Suddenly he pulled out a present. Wait....what's today? Oh.....I sighed.
"What's wrong?" He asked. I have him a sad smile.
"I forgot our birthday, I don't have anything for you Kana-nii." I said. Kaname smiled.
"Alec, just seeing your smile is the greatest gift I could ever receive. Now hurry and open the gift!" He said excitedly. I giggled and opened. I first pulled out a....
"Meow." That what I heard. My eyes sparkled, in my arms was a black cat with green eyes.
"Thank you Kana-nii!" I said hugging him. I looked at the cat.
"You know what I'm gonna call you....Leo, like the great lion, or panther in your case." I said happily. Leo purred and let out a soft meow. I guess he likes the name.
"He'll be your familiar, someone to keep you company when I can't. And there's more in the box." Kaname said. I looked in the box and sure enough there was. It was one of those roses that once every ten years, it was encased in raisin.
"It beautiful Kaname, but wait....I thought you were gonna give it to Yuki?" I asked. Despite everything, I know my brother loved our sister. I was only afraid of him forgetting about me. He smiled.
"I lied and said I didn't get the chance to get it. I can give her one in the next ten years. I wanted to give this one to you, since I'm the only who seems to actually care." Kaname growled the last part angrily. I kissed his cheek making him blush.
"It's okay, I'm use to it." I said. Leo meowed and got my shoulders rubbishing his head against my. Kana-nii frowned and hugged me.
"I'm sorry Alec." He said. I sighed.
"Just promise you won't abandon me too." I said. Kaname immediately nodded.
"I promise, with all my heart I promise." He said. I sighed happily.
"Thank you Kana-nii." I said. We both laid down on the bed, telling jokes, laughing, playing with Leo, cuddling. Kaname looked at me.
"Hey Alec, you think one day we might end up like mother and father?" He asked. I frowned.
"Kana-nii, I don't know. I doubt they are gonna let that happen, I'm a boy for one and the monster." I said.
"Don't you ever say that about yourself. You hear me." Kaname said sternly. I nodded.
"Sorry, but I know you love Yuki too. We'll always just be brothers, we can't be anything more. But I'm okay with that, as long as I don't lose you." I said.
"But, I'll fight them for you. I want you Alec. I promise I'll fight for you." He said burying his face into my shoulder. I bite my lip to fight back the tears.
"Don't make promises you can't keep big brother. You'll be made to choose between Yuki and me, and you'll be forced to choose Yuki, whether or not you want to." I said. He hugged me tighter.
"I don't want to, I don't want to! I won't do it! I won't abandon you! I want you! I need you Alec! My world wouldn't be whole without you. It won't." Kaname was crying, burying his face in my chest. I sighed feeling my own tears slip down my cheeks.
"I know, it'll be the same for me. But, the minute you say yes, is when you'll lose me, and I'll lose you. But at least it won't be you that's alone, Kana-nii." I said. Kaname lifted head and looked at me, tear streaming from his eyes.
"I won't say yes. I swear I won't! I love you Alec! And I won't let them take you away from me!" He cried. I gave him a sad smile.
"Kana-nii, don't cry, it doesn't suit you." I said wiping his tears away. I stop smiling and gave him a serious look.
"You won't have a choice. But even if you do say yes, just remember I'll still love you." He frowned.
"You say it as if you won't be around." Kaname said. I frowned.
"I won't be. If you say yes, I'll be truly alone, I'll lose you and you'll lose me. And we both know it'll get worse for me, if I want to keep my sanity, I'll have to leave." I said.
"That won't happen, I swear it won't." Kaname said. I sat up and hugged him.
"Don't make promises you can't keep." I whispered. Kaname stayed quiet and hugged me back. Suddenly the door burst opened.
"See mom, I told you that thing was hurting big brother." Said an annoying little voice that belonged to my younger sister Yuki. Kaname was pulled away from me and I was slapped so hard I hit the ground. I put a hand on my now bruised left cheek.
"How dare you touch my son you worthless child!" Juri screamed I frowned and gave her a cold stare, but said nothing. Kaname grabbed her arm.
"No mother! Please he did nothing wrong!" He said, trying to defend me.
"I told to stay away him and you force him to come down here! Why did I give birth to a monster like you!? You sinful little brat!" She screamed kicking my rib. I made a small noise from the pain.
"He did nothing of the sort! Stop saying these things to him! Alec doesn't deserve this!" Kaname yelled. I sat up.
"Kana-nii please don't. I'll be okay, don't worry." I said looking at him with a small smile.
"Don't you dare speak to my son like that!" Juri screamed. She raised her hand to strike me again.
"No!" Kaname said. As Juri's hand came down in full force Kaname got infront of me. A loud smacking sound was heard. Kaname, my brother, took the blow. His head whipped to the side, his left cheek now baring a red hand print, everyone was in shock. I snapped out of his first with gasp.
"Kaname!" I said panicked. I got up quickly, even if it hurt, and immediately check his cheek. Juri and Yuki stood in shock.
"K-Kaname....I-I.." Juri tried. Kaname moved his head towards Juri and.....he glared. Then Juri flew back into the wall. My brother narrowed his eyes.
"Get out." He said, a slight growl in voice.
"But big brother!" Yuki protested.
"Now." He growled. Yuki started to cry and ran out, Juri slowly followed. I immediately hugged Kaname.
"Are you okay!?" I said. Kaname sighed.
"I'm more worried about you." He said, picking me up and laying me on the broken bed.
"Your not healing, here." Kaname said tilting his head. I slowly leaned up and licked his neck a few times to numb the skin. Then I gently bit into the skin, drinking his blood. He hummed and rubbed my back. I felt my ribs healing and my bruises going away. I pulled back and touched his bruised cheek.
"Are you okay?" I asked. He nodded. I kissed his cheek, healing it with my powers. Kaname smiled at me.
"Thank you Alec." He said.
"No, thank you for being my brother, Kana-nii." I said hugging him.
5 days later
I sighed and walked to the kitchen for some water. I went passed the living room as usual, this time going around. When I heard voices.
"You and Yuki would make an excellent couple." Haruka's voice sounded. A rush of fear shot through me. No.....Not now, please not now. I wanted more time! I thought frantically.
"I'm not so-" I heard Kaname try to say but.
"You two are made for each other! Yuki, would you like to marry Kaname." Juri interrupted.
"Yes I would!" Yuki said. I felt my breathing increase. No please no, this must be a bad dream.
"Kaname, would you like to marry Yuki?" Juri said.
"I...isn't this a little early to be thinking about this?" I heard Kaname say.
"You and Yuki are the only ones who can carry on the Kuran bloodline. So will you marry Yuki?" Haruka said. I looked through the keyhole and saw Kaname's face. He looked broken, and sad. Finally he let out a defeated sigh.
"........Yes, I will." He said. My heart broke. I knew it. I knew this would happen. I just wish I was later rather then sooner. I can't stay here. I looked down and ran to my room dropping my glass of water. The walls in my room began to crack as my powers went haywire. I got out a small suitcase and packed 3 sets of clothes, the only ones I have, I small stuffed bear I got from Kaname when we were 5 and the rose he gave me five days ago.
"C'mon Leo, we're leaving." I muttered. Leo jumped onto my shoulders and meowed. I wrote a quick letter to the kurans and my brother.

Dear Kurans,
You got your wish. I'm gone. You've neglected me, you've abused me, and treated me like garbage. I've finally had enough. You even took my brother from me. I hope your happy.
Kaname, I'm sorry, but it's too much. Besides at least you won't have to worry about me any more. I don't hate you for saying yes. I'll always love you Kana-nii, even with a broken heart.

I sighed and used my powers to make the one widlndow shatter. Just then...
"Your leaving?" I turned to see Kaname. I nodded.
"I'm sorry, but the time came sooner then we both thought." I said. Kaname sobbed and hugged me.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Take me with you! I'll go with you!" He said.
"No, you can't. You have a life here and I can't take that from you. I can't stay either, I'm sorry, Kana-nii." I said. I stepped back, grabbed the note I wrote and gave it to him. I went to turn but Kaname grabbed my wrist and pulled me back to, then he brought his lips to mine. I could only melt into the kiss, tears flowing down my eyes. No matter how much I knew we both wanted this, it would never be aloud, we could never be more then brothers, and knowing that broke my heart. I pulled back and nearly sobbed seeing Kaname's face, the pain, sorrow and fear it held. I sighed and backed farther away making Kaname let go of me.
"Goodbye, big brother." I said, jumping out the window.
"Alec!" I heard him yell as I ran through the snowstorm.
Kaname's POV
"Alec!" I screamed. I dropped to my knees sobbing. I opened the paper Alec gave and sobbed.
"You idiot, I'll always worry." I whispered. I heard four sets of footsteps.
"Kaname, what happened!?" My so called father said. I handed him the note. He read it.
"No....." He said and handed it to Juri who gasped.
"What have we done?" She said. I grit my teeth, and stood.
"Good question. And the answer...." I turned and glared at them.
"Is that you drove my brother away." I growled before leaving the basement and going to my own room. I grabbed the picture that was on my night stand, the only one of me and my brother.
"I will find you Alec, I swear I will find you, and nothing will separate us again. This is a promise, I intend to keep." I said looking out the window.
Alec's POV
I ran and ran through the snow tiredly. I was freezing but I needed to get as far away as possible.  I'm sorry Kana-nii, maybe they were right, I'm meant to be unloved. I thought tears flowing from my eyes. My 8 year old legs began to hurt and I started to stumble. Then suddenly I tripped on a tree root. Leo yowled in panic as I fell. I heard someone's footsteps then a voice.
"Oh my god! Kid! You okay!? Kid!" Then I was met with darkness.
I feel so sad writing this chapter. But I hope you liked it. See ya next chapter.
