The call went out on July 22, 2018.
Wolves had begun to notice they were receiving messages from an account they hadn't followed.
Through investigation, it was found out that the account they had followed @WattyWolves "had been retired by its team."
That account of 15.4k was rebranded Dark Fantasy, and werewolf lovers were directed to WP's werewolf account.

Being sadden by this we reminisced.
We recounted our interaction with the old account and the promise it held for our community.
We felt bad for those who had won awards, created competition entries, and we're now left adrft.
It was the stirring of emotions, the rekindling trauma of a previous WP tragedy, that inspired us, that made us realize... the username was now available.
So yes, on a whim, we decided to scoop up the beloved @WattyWolves username. (12am July 23, 2018)

It seems our paths had been leading to this all along. With the experiences we've had along the way and the connections strengthened, we are going to put action to what we've been talking about for a while...

We want this account to be a gathering space for the WERE community. For packs, lone wolves, shifters, familiars, Skinwalkers, etc.
Were we see each other as a community and not competitors. Were the success of one, means the success of all, the de-stigmatization of the genre. Means readers get quality, quantity, and access to WERE content.
