as we arrived at the church father yaginama welcomed us with a worried expression though I noticed he tried to hide it

"welcome ladies i'm so sorry for your misfortune"

"it's quite alright thank you for letting us stay in the church" mom says

"yes thank you father yaginama" i say

"no worries we're going to take care of you ladies"

"so the weeks went on and there was no pain yet my wounds remained from years of abuse and the scars make me look like i've been through hell"

one day i heard a knock that knock began the part of my life I will never forget

"come in" I say expecting one of the other girls living there but to my shock...

my mom came in with an envelope already open and tears in her eyes

father yaginama came behind her he had a mixture of sadness and pain written across his features.

this is where everything changed

my mom handed me the letter which I carefully took and pulled out only to unfold it

as i read it i looked at them the perplexed look on my face must have made them feel equally confused.

"perspective bride...for one of the sakamaki's...i'm to go live with them...there will be one other girl with me" I ask wondering why I am only told of this now

my mom nodded and tears slid from her gentle eyes

i was handed a small bottle of holy water

as i got my bags my taxi arrived I barely had time to fix myself but I managed

i got in waving bye to my mom she waved back crying

after father yaginama paid the man he began driving

the ride was silent until the driver spoke he was young and his voice sounded like he was southern his accent was distict to that of others"

"a bride eh hope your new man is good to ya"

"I don't want this to happen but another girl is being pushed into this i can't let her do this alone"

"how nice..do you like music"

"very much"

he leaned up and turned the music on

i knew the song that came on so i started singing the driver looked amused as he bobbed his head.

"you sounded amazing miss if I didn't know any better I'd say you have some talent"

"thanks but I'm not that great" I sigh and turn to the passing trees after a moment he spoke

"do you have a story behind it"

"yes but it's rather long one"

"we won't be there for a while go on and tell"

as i explain everything his expression changes from anger to surprise to shock and sadness the whole time

"i'm so sorry"

"it's fine"

"i live in town here...take my number and if something happens let me know i'll come help you get away...i'm Matteo (mah-tay-oh) but you can call me Matt"
