Sitting down between Izzy and this other girl, I get this weird vibe off of her. She seems cool... for right now. Joe walks over with a single malt whiskey with a few ice cubes, the guys seems a little impressed. Thanks Joe for making me seem like I'm a hard core bad-ass.
"Gang, this is Megan. Megan this is the gang." Izzy poorly introduces me.
A man stands up reaching over to shake my hand, "I'm Archie." he's cute but definitely gay.
Another man is across the table downing his beer, impressive. The girl next to me begins to speak, "That is Chop, the funny chap in the gang. And I'm Chloe, the smart one out of the group." she flips her hair back.
I look towards Finn, he just smiles at me. Archie elbowing him in the rib cage, I laugh a little.
"This is Finn Nelson, bad boy, ex-player, not much of a talker to new people. As you can tell, but no worries. He'll warm up to ya." Izzy mentions, Finn gives me a small wave of a "hey".
Archie looks towards me and asks, "So, Megan do you have a job in town?" Just as I was about to answer, Finn speaks for me.
"At Cafe Black, on High Street." the whole gang looks at both of us. Chop gocking his head.
"Do you two know each other?"
"No, not really. He and his father come by almost every morning for some coffee." I respond
"Ohhh, well then. Would you mind hooking up some of your mates with free coffee?" Chloe asks, giving a fake laugh. I can feel Finn's eyes on me, almost as if he was examining me.
"Yeah... maybe," looking down at my phone, realizing how much time I've been out, "I have to go, I'm sorry."
"Hey Megan, let me give you my number. So you, Izzy, and I could hang out sometime." sadly, I felt my phone unlocked, Chloe grabs my phone, pinning in her digits. "Text me when you start work tomorrow, I'll bring the gang on by." Grabbing my stuff and my purse, headed out the door. Walking in the cold dark night, not even at the street corning when I had a feeling I was being followed. Hearing heavy footsteps, turned around and there he was. Finn Nelson, right behind me.
"Why are you following me? Pretty sure you don't live near me." I asked.
"No, I'm not followin you. Izzy told me that if I don't walk you home, she'd give me crap the next day for not making sure you were alright. You could say I was forced to."
"Well thanks but no thanks, don't need a bodyguard. Especially no the doesn't seem to like me much." I say sarcastically.
"Okay then." he turns around and slowly walks away, I start feeling a bit bad.
"Wait," he stops in his tracks, " I don't need a babysitter, but I would like someone to talk to on the way home. If you don't mind." he turns around walks by my side. Walking towards my place, Finn and I get to talking, he wasn't such a bad boy once you got through a couple of layers, no more like a wall. With bricks stacked high, we got to talking from music, to books, all the way of style in clothes. Felt almost like a first date, although I know it's not, but a girl can dream right.
"So, why'd you move to London? Stamford, specifically." he asks.
"What yea mean mate, I've lived here my whole life." responding in a really terrible British accent. He laughs, thank god he did, "I needed a fresh start in my life, and London. It's always been a dream of mine. So, I started saving money since I was nine, when I got enough to put a down payment on a place. Finished college first, then packed all my stuff got a one way ticket. Move here, a flat on top of a coffee shop, living my dream."
"What made you feel like you need a new start?"
"I'd rather not talk about it."
"Can't be that bad, you need one person to talk to while you live here."
"Ohh really, assuming that you'd want to be the person?" I ask, jokingly.
We start to arrive to the coffee shop.
"Well, this is me. Thanks for the walk home, although I didn't need it." saying sarcastically.
"Yea, no problem. I'd definitely like to do it again..." he paused.
"Finn," he looks into my eye, "can I by chance give you my number?...." he had this little smile, "I'm only asking cause I don't trust Chloe to give me a heads up about when you guys are going to come by tomorrow." his facial expression dropped.
"Ohh.... yea right, of course." he pulls out his phone, making a new contact he hands the phone to me. I dialled in my number, taking a quick selfie to make as the contact photo. Locking the screen, handed the phone back to him.
"Goodnight Megan."
"Sweet dreams Finn."
