Once you're done filling the base layer, create a clipping layer above it (in the same group) to use for coloring the fur and adding texture

For lighting, use not only a lighter version of the base color, but make it warmer or cooler depending on the light source, and then the opposite for shading

Not sure what I was going for there..maybe the RiverClan/WindClan border in the forest territory? Personally, I think I'm better at painting landscapes than cats, buuuut that's not what we're here for. ¯\_()_/¯

Anywayyyy, as you can see, these basic steps can be used for more than just Warriors art. Starting from a rough sketch, using base colors, and multiple layers are all great tips and tricks for any digital art. I hope this tutorial was fun and helpful for everyone!
