Ashes

As the silence settles,
And dusk approaches.
Go not, quietly.
Be not, silent.
For the darkness is lasting,
And the silence complete.
So burn and flare,
One last time.

Let your words be the lightning,
To illuminate the sky.
May your actions be the torch,
To lead others, not astray.
And from your ashes will arise,
Others, nurtured and renewed.
And as you fade,
Your memories will linger.
Your actions, inspire,
And your word, reverberate.

So burn, burn.
Do not fear the flame.
Immolate yourself,
And purify, in pain.
And enter the darkness,
Not as a cold hollow.
But, as burning ash,
Defiant, in the dark.
