Minerva gets the two of us rooms at the Leaky Cauldron. She would've paid for mine too, but the nice landlady, a woman whose name is Hannah Longbottom, said I can have a room for free since I'm sort of on the run.

"What now?" I ask Minerva when we get settled.

"We go to Diagon Ally. That's where we buy school supplies." She replies.

That night Minerva explains everything about the wizarding world and Hogwarts to me. Owls, to carry post? Genius!

The next morning, I'm eating my waffles at the breakfast table with Minerva, when I hear a merry female voice exclaim, "Kyra!" Turning around in surprise, I see that it's Lily Potter.

"Lily!" I cry. Lily is like my little sister. We tell each other everything.

James and Albus stand behind her. They are always behind her, like her personal bodyguards. I always find myself wishing that someone would care that much about me. But I am an only child, so I don't think my wish will come true.

James folds his arms, eyebrows raised. "Why're you here, Shorts? Are you coming to see us off?" James has always called me Shorts. I'm a lot shorter than him, even shorter than Lily.

Lily thumps him on the back of the head. "She obviously got her Hogwarts letter, you dope!" She turns to me. "Isn't that right, Kyra?"

I nod quietly.

Albus raises his eyebrows. "How'd you get here?" He asks me. Albus is the quieter brother, the more thoughtful one.

I'm about to explain, but James interrupts me. "Blimey! You pulled a runaway! I should give you more credit, Shorts."

I roll my eyes. Lily thumps him on the back of the head again.

"Ouch!" James cries, rubbing the back of his head.

Aunt Ginny and Uncle Harry walk into the room together, holding hands. "Quiet down, James, would you!" Ginny cries. She catches sight of me. "Kyra!"

Ginny runs to me and embraces me in a bone-crushing hug. "You've gotten your letter! Oh, we're so proud of you!"

Uncle Harry doesn't look happy. He's got his thinking face on. "Where are your parents?" He asks me, as Ginny pulls back.

I sigh. "Well...." I begin. "I ran away-"

A hand clamps itself on my shoulder. I whirl around to see a large man with meaty hands. Next to him is a tall, skinny man.

"Hello, Mr. Potter, Mrs. Potter." The skinny man says. He looks down at me sinisterly. "And who is this? Not one of yours, I presume."

Aunt Ginny steps forward, a look of determination on her face. "Kyra's our niece." She says, grabbing my hand gently and leading me towards her, away from the creepy men.

The tall man smirks creepily. "Of course." He looks at me. "Kyra, is it? Hmm." The tall guy turns his gaze to Aunt Ginny and Uncle Harry. "I'll see you at work, Potter." He says.

Harry glares at him coldly. "Nott." He looks at the fat man. "Goyle."

The two stalk off, and Minerva is just noticing the Potters.

"Potter! Miss Weasley!" She greets fondly. Miss Weasley? Aunt Ginny is a Potter now.

Ginny smiles genuinely. "Professor!" She cries.

James rolls his eyes. This must happen a lot. Albus is dazed, looking off into the distance. Lily smiles at Minerva.

"Hello Professor McGonagall." Harry says, the smile having returned to his face.
