Pulling up in front of Wayne Manor, I instantly dreaded being home, especially now that I know that Talia was staying here. That shit still made my skin crawl and I couldn't stand it. I couldn't stand her.

Climbing out of the car, I noticed someone standing on the porch, but I couldn't tell who it was.

"Can I help you?" I asked, walking up the stairs towards the front door. When he turned around, my eyes widened as I glanced at the one person I thought I'd never see again. "Kane?"

 "Kane?"

Kane ❤

"Hey baby. I'm home." He smiled, walking up to me and grabbing my face, kissing me passionately. Kane was my ex-boyfriend and we were together for two years before he was arrested for a crime that we both had committed. We were deep into breaking in people's houses, stealing and vandalizing, and one night the police caught us and Kane told me to run while he stayed behind and took the rap for everything. I never knew why he did it, nor did I ask, but I felt bad about him sitting in jail for something we both did.

"When did you get out?" I asked.

"Last night. They let me out for good behavior."

"Oh." I murmured. "I-"

"You have no idea how long I've waited for this moment. Seeing your beautiful face again is what kept me going while I was on the inside." He said, grabbing my hand and kissing it. I laughed nervously as we took a seat on the stairs and glanced at one another. "You did think about me while I was gone, didn't you?"

"Of course I did, it's just...it's..." I stammered, trying to figure out what to say to him. Before Joker came along, Kane consumed my every thoughts, only because I never knew why he done what he did. I felt so guilty for the longest time and I even tried to go and visit him, but my dad refused to let me step foot anywhere near Blackgate Penitentiary. "Kane...the night you were arrested...why did you take the rap for us both? I deserved to be in jail just as much as you did and yet...I got off Scott free and you spent two long years in Blackgate." He took a deep breath and pulled a cigarette from his pocket, lightening it up and taking a long pull from it.

"I'm the son of one of Gotham's most gruesome villains, Alex. People expect me to have criminal blood running through my veins. Not you though. You're the princess of Gotham City, all while your did is the king. I couldn't let you tarnish your reputation." Kane's father was Victor Zsasz, one of the most gruesome serial killers that Gotham has ever known. Whenever he'd commit a murder, he'd carve a tally mark into his skin, which was more of a sick compulsion than a gimmick.

"That's really sweet, Kane, but you know I didn't care about my reputation back then. Shit, I still don't if we're being honest." I told him. He laughed a little, blowing out a large puff of smoke, looking at me.

"You were always a rebellious one." He laughed, making me laugh a little. "I've missed that laugh. Hell...I missed that smile." He grabbed my chin and forced me to look over at him. I stared into his mesmerizing green eyes, feeling those small flutter of butterflies in my stomach like I used to when we first started dating.

"I know we can't just pick up where we left off, but I really want us to go back to how we were before I got arrested."

"Yeah...I'd like that too, but the thing is...I'm dealing with a lot right now and a relationship is the last thing I need at the moment." I told him, honestly.

"I understand, but I still want to hang out with you and possibly rekindle our love for one another." He was really coming on strong, but that's how he was when we first met and I found it very cute but also very annoying.

"Do you have a phone?" I asked him. He nodded and pulled his phone out of his pocket, handing it to me. I programmed my name and number into it, handing it back to him. "I have some family issues to handle, but you have number. Call or text me later on and we can go hang out."

"Sounds good. It was good to see you, Alex." He smiled.

"You too, Kane." We both stood up and he pulled me into his arms, hugging me tight. He then placed a soft kiss on my lips before walking down the stairs and making his way down the long driveway. I turned and walked into the house, quietly closing the door behind me before heading upstairs to my room.

When I opened my bedroom door, I stopped when I saw Talia standing at my desk, rummaging through my stuff.

"What the hell are you doing?" I snapped, glaring at her. She jumped a little and turned towards me, holding up some measuring tape.

"Alex, you're home!" She shrieked.

"Why the hell are you in my room?"

"I just wanted to measure and see how big your bedroom is, comparing it to what's going to be the baby's nursery."

"Dad! DAD!" I screamed.

"Your father's not here." She spoke, rolling her eyes.

"Get out of my room!"

"Honestly Alexandria, you're making a big fuss over nothing."

"Excuse you? I caught you going through my shit and I'm making a big fuss?" I stormed over towards her and shoved her against the wall, pulling my knife out of my pocket and pressing it against her neck. "I wonder how much of a fuss you'd make if I slit your throat open right here, right now. Then again...you'd be dead so who cares?"

"When your father hears about this-" She began, but I cut her off.

"SHUT UP!"

"Alex?" I heard from behind me. I closed my eyes for a split second and removed the knife from her neck, turning around to see my Uncle Robin standing there. A wave of relief came over me when I realized that it wasn't my dad, but I knew that she was going to tell him what happened anyways.

"Get out of my room!" I hissed, pointing towards the door. She eased passed me and hurried out of my room, while Uncle Robin closed the door and crossed his arms.

"What the hell was that, Alex?" He asked me.

"I literally just got here and caught her snooping through my stuff!"

"You're kidding!"

"You just caught me about to slit her throat, of course I'm not kidding!" I ran my fingers through my hair, taking a seat on the bed. "I know dad is going to flip when she tells him what I did. Ugh...I need to get out of here." I jumped up and was about to go into my closet and pack some clothes, but my uncle grabbed me and placed his hands on my shoulder.

"Relax, okay? You're not going anywhere and I'm sure that when he finds out that she was snooping through your stuff, he'll understand why you done what you did." He said. I shook my head, knowing damn well that he wasn't going to understand a damn thing, except his adopted daughter almost killed his pregnant girlfriend. "Sit down and let's talk. I've been worried about you. Are you okay?" I nodded my head.

"I'm fine." I assured him. "I just needed to get away and get my mind right."

"That's understandable. Just promise me that you won't go missing like that again. Your father and I almost sent out a search party to come look for you." Thank God you didn't. I thought to myself. If my dad and uncle find out that I had been hanging with the Joker, wreaking havoc on all of Gotham, there's no telling what they'd do; and I'm not going to let them find out.
