   You were walking down the grass with your friends, all the guys watching you. Your hair was in an elaborate bun, your make-up perfect. You were talking about fashion and jewelry, even though you weren't into it. They were your friends, after all. But then you looked in the fountain your school had. What you saw was... a girl you'd never known.

Get your sexy on

Take it off
This is what you want, to belong, so they like you.

  You realize that you've changed, and not for the better. The real you didn't wear make-up and didn't like shopping and fashion. "Hey, stop staring at your reflection and get over here. We're talking about that new Prada dress I bought!" one of your friends calls to you.

   "No," you say. You dig through your purse and grab your make-up remover. "Oh my gosh, what are you doing!" one of your friends squeals, "You look beautiful with that make-up on!"

   You look in the fountain one last time and open the make-up remover wipes. You start with your lips, removing the lipgloss on them. Then comes your eyes. Lastly your face. Your so-called friends are horrified. "Unless you put that back on, you can't be seen with us!" one girl threatens.

Get your shopping on, at the mall, max your credit cards
You don't have to choose, buy it all so they like you
Do they like you?

You shrug your shoulders and say, "This is the real me. I like the way I am and not the way you want me to be." This sets them off and they insult you before leaving.

Wait a second,
Why should you care what they think of you
When your all alone, by yourself, do you like you?

  You smile at your clean face and softly sing to yourself something your mother taught you:

   You go to the locker room to get changed into clothes you liked, since you don't want to please them anymore. You look at your smile in the mirror and continue the song:

You looked in it and finally saw who you wanted to see- the real you. Only one problem.  You giggled and undid your bun to reveal messy, wild hair. You began the final verse;

"Take your make-up off

Take a breathe
Look into the mirror, at yourself
Don't you like you?

You laughed at your reflection. "Yea, I do like me."
