he felt invisible
even though he was surrounded by people
he knew that all the words he heard
were idle chatter
he remembered sherlock holmes
because of something he had said
he explained to watson
how the brain worked
well, as a matter of fact, how
his brain worked
he now struggled
with a question
was his brain
half-empty with nonsense
or was it half-full
with something meaningful?
he stared at the clock
three forty in the afternoon
someone was asking him a question
it dawned upon him that he was
at a party
he shrugged
and left the question unanswered
it was just polite talk anyway
he was now by the red door
staring at everything
and everyone
that currently existed
he found no beauty nor comfort in it
and somehow
that was alright
