The Remembrance

Fun Fact: This poem was written in September and I sent it to a publisher and got news in November that I would be getting published! So this poem is now published in the Polar Expressions Publishing Company!

You stood where the bodies lay in the crumpled remains,
Collapsed in a heap of dark, deadly smoke.
You stood where the smell of death lingered for days or even months.
You read the names of the people who jumped out of windows to end their own lives.
You read the names of others who suffered in the smoke and burned or fell in the collapse.
You could imagine the towers collapsing onto your own body.
You felt the pain and suffering of the fallen.
You saw the memorials and the survivor tree—
The tree that was nursed back to health and replanted in the very spot where it stood
Watching everyone who cried, who ended their lives, and even the visitors of the historic site—
The site we will remember,
The site of the towers,
The Twin Towers.
We go there so that we never forget
September 11, 2001.

I hope you enjoyed that as a first chapter of my new book. Right now as of August 11/2018 I am working on another poem/song inspired by twenty one pilots.
