On Sunday I wake up late, the lie in does me the world of good because I regain the sleep I lost in the week prior. I get up at 11am and stay in my cabin, in my pajamas. I get my case and pull out the fresh notepad I bought a while ago but didn't use. It's weird to hold a pen and paper, it's been so long since I have, last time I touched a notepad I felt like a different person. My head is swimming with ideas that I've held in far too long. As soon as the pen hits the page the words sprint onto the page. By 2pm I have 50 pages written, every 5th word is scribbled out because my mind changes every second.

My stomach rumbles, I've not even thought about food today, apparently the mess is open from 7am til 7pm on a Sunday because the kids like to drop in as they please on their chill days. I get up, shower, washing the last of the purple out of my hair (if I'm honest I'm glad it's gone it was a hassle anyway). I put my favourite purple tank top on and a pair of shorts and get going walking down to the mess.

"Hey, Kat, coming up to the sports courts, we're doing truth or dare," Ashley says walking with Debby and two girls called Vicky, Bethany and Zara.

"Nah, I'm getting food, plus it's my day off," I say.

"Exactly, come play truth or dare," Bethany says.

I shake my head, "I think I'm going to go find Calum"

"Ooh, Calum," Ashley coos.

"Are you two back together?" Zara asks.

I sigh and shake my head walking off. I get a chicken sandwich from Karen and wander off. I don't know where I'll find Calum, I check in the window of his cabin and he's not there so I decide to go off to the woods to find. Like I had first assumed, I find him in the clearing. I walk quietly but he's playing guitar so he can't hear me. I hide behind a tree and listen as he sings different lyrics to the same tune, writing them down. He's writing. It's bloody amazing to listen to someone write a song, the way the word seem to just pop into his head is fascinating, I couldn't do that.

When he puts the book and the guitar down I know he's finished so tactfully I move a few meters back and loudly walk forward so he doesn't think I've been listening.

"Oh, hi KitKa- Kat," he says.

"Hey, were you writing?" I ask.

"Um... yeah, for the campfire tonight," he smiles.

"Can I hear it?" I grin hopefully.

"Yes," he pauses. "At the campfire tonight"

"Agh," I groan.

"Sorry," he chuckles. "What time is campfire?"

"8pm, so we've got time to hang," I say.

"Good, lets make a deal," he says, "Try to meet here everytime we get free time"

"Alright but no promises," I smile. "I wrote today too"

"Short stories?" he questions.

"Origionally yes but it's sort of turning into a novel..." I tell him.

"Well it was bound to happen at some time," he says. "Let's go do something"

"What?"

"I don't know, what is there to do?" he says.

"The older kids are playing truth or dare at the sports courts," I suggest.

"No thanks," he sniggers.

"Then what?" I say.

"We could go back to your cabin, you could put on the NASA shirt and I could take it off," he looks me in the eye with a cheesy grin on his face putting his things away in his guitar case.

"You still on that? No. We could invite the guys to visiting day," I say.

"Alright, race you to the office," Calum shoots up grabbing his guitar and runs.

"No fair, you had a head start," I call after him.

I still beat him, but I think he let me win because he's way healthier than me.

We dial Ash's number and he picks up, "Hello unknown number"

"Ash, it's Kat and Calum," I say. "Are the guys there?"

"Yeah I'll put you on speaker,"  he says. "Guys it's Kat and Cal"

"Hey guys," Luke shouts.

"How's your couples summer?" Michael calls.

"Oh yeah, about that... we broke up," Calum says.

"Wow, that must be awkward," Ashton says.

"Surprisingly, no," Calum says.

"But he keeps trying to get me naked," I add.

They laugh.

"What's up?" Luke shouts.

"We want to invite you to visiting day on Wednesday, " I inform.

"What is there to do there? I dont want to be bored," Michael says.

"Loads, there's a lake, sports field, woods, craft room," Calum lists.

"We'll be there, I need directions though," Ashton says.

"Google maps it," Calum says.

"We have to get going though, they're really strict on phone times," I say.

"Alright, see you Wednesday,"Ashton says.

"Bye,"  Michael and Luke call.

"See ya," I say and hang up.

Calum writes down the call in the log book and we head up to the sports courts.

I get dressed up in my nicest clothes for the campfire, as nice as I can get with the camp tshirt that the girls decided to tie dye. I leave my hair down instead of tying it up, wear my favourote shorts and put a little bit of make up on.

Campfire is just how I remembered, we play charades and pictionary then sing songs.

"Last thing, we have Calum here to sing a song for us," Anne says.

Calum sits on a rock with the guitar on his knee.

"Hello campers, I wrote a song today, about... someone," but I swear he glances at me. "This is 'the only reason'"

His song is beautiful it begins:

'don't talk, let me think it over, how we gonna fix this, how we gonna undo all the pain'

The chorus starts: 'When I close my eyes and try to sleep, I fall apart I find it hard to breathe, you're the reason the only reason'

It's trudly beautiful but while singing he keeps his eyes fixed on the fire. He leaves pretty much as soon as the campfire is over so I don't get a chance to ask him who the song was about but when I get back to my cabin I write him a note;

Dear Calum,
Amazing song, I loved it but who was it about? I really don't want to assume that it's me...
-KitKat

I leave it trapped in his window change into the NASA shirt and go to sleep.
