Chapter 5

Jason’s POV:

I managed to walk away from her, I wanted to stay with her and hold her close but I know I have to take this slow. I kept a smile on my face until I was back at the beach, Adam automatically came running to me

“So did you do it?”

“That makes it sound dirty man” I shook my head at him, he laughed

“Did you kiss her though?” I couldn’t help but smile wider, Adam patted me on the back and said

“Way to go bro”

“Yeah, never gonna forget it” Adam laughed and said

“She’s got you whipped” I hit his shoulder and he just laughed harder. We sat by the fire with Adam telling me things about his sister and how people used to treat her, let’s just say I was not happy. I went home like a little kid on Christmas morning, dreaming of Emily eventually.

*****Saturday Morning*****

Emily’s POV:

I woke up to the annoying sound of my brother’s voice telling me to wake up.

“Go away Adam!” I mumbled into my pillow

“No way! Dad invited Jason’s family for a BBQ so get up.”

“WHAT??” Adam started laughing and said

“You heard me, now get ready” with that he walked out of my room. How could my dad do this, I’m not ready to see Jason after what happened yesterday. OMG what am I supposed to wear? I walked into the bathroom to freshen up, I put a pair of shorts and a tank top for now. I walked down the stairs where my dad was cooking breakfast.

“Morning father”

He laughed “Morning Sweetheart, did Adam tell you that Mr. and Mrs. Marin are coming over for a BBQ?”

“Yeah he did. What time are they coming?” I was curious on how my dad new Jace’s parents.

“Around 2! I need you to set up the table outside with your brother and I’ll take care of the rest, than you can go get ready”

“Alright” I ate my breakfast and was surprised to know it was already 10am, wow I slept a lot but who cares it’s Saturday. I went outside and helped my brother set up the table, the genius decided to bring the stereo outside so he could play DJ.

“Adam, don’t you think that’s a bit too much?” he gave me that look like saying “NO DUH”

“They are not teenagers, they won’t like your music”

“Shut up Em! I just want to fool around with music a bit, I’ll turn it off when we’re eating”

“Fine idiot” with that I walked inside to get ready.. I have 1 hr and a half to get ready, I can work with that. After taking another shower I blow dried my hair and curled it clipping my bangs back.  Wanting to impress Jason is hard… I went for an orange romper with sandals and a bit of makeup. With that I was ready and outside with my dad waiting for our guests.

Jason’s POV:

When my parents told me that Mr. Fields invited for a BBQ I couldn’t help but smile, seeing Emily again was all I wanted, I hope it’s not awkward between us.

My parents knocked on the door and the sight before me had me smiling really wide.

“Hello! Come on in, my father is in the back!” her angelic voice was making me go weak at the knees, we walked in and I couldn’t help but admire her beauty, the way the orange made her skin glow and how her lips looked so kissable, I walked next to her and started a small talk

“Hi Em!” I said smiling at her, she laughed and said

“Hey Jace.” I couldn’t handle her, she’s just too beautiful and after what Adam told me about her I just wanted to hug her and make her feel loved. I didn’t notice we were outside and I was still starring at her until Adam hit me on my back and said

“Dude! Stop starring at my sister!”

“I wasn’t starring” Adam laughed

“Yeah right, your eyes were about to fall off.”

I ignored him and proceeded to say Hi to Mr. Fields, I have to make a good impression if I want him to allow me to date Emily. I saw her sitting by the pool by herself so I sat next to her

“Hey, you ok?” I asked

She smiled and said “Yup” I knew she was shy about our kiss yesterday, maybe I forced myself on her too hard yesterday

“Did I do something wrong?” I asked hoping she would say no

“Of Course not Jace” she smiled… ouff that’s a relief; I started to make small talk with her until we were called to eat.

Emily’s POV:

 The BBQ went well and they were now leaving, Jason’s mom came to me and said

“It was lovely to meet you Emily, We’ve heard a lot about you” before I could say something Jason was in front of me

“Bye Em!” he smiled

“Bye Jace” with that he hugged me, It was unexpected but I felt to safe in his arms, he broke away and smirked at me, I swear this boy is the death of me. I saw Adam laughing in the corner of the room and I couldn’t help but give him a death glare which he replied by sticking his tongue out. After Jason and his parents left, I helped my dad clean up while Adam just bailed on us to play video games.

“Jason seems like a nice boy” said my dad

“Yeah I guess so” I replied

“Don’t play with me Em, I saw the way you looked at him” okay so now my dad is noticing this

“What look?” I tried to play dumb but I guess my dad caught on.

“Sweetheart, he looks at you the same way you look at him, it’s obvious you both like each other” I couldn’t hide the blush that was creeping my cheeks, my father hugged me and said

“Don’t let him break your heart” I simply smiled and nodded. I don’t know if I could ever live if my dad was gone.

*** 2 hours later****

I was sitting on my bed reading one of my romantic novels when my phone vibrated,  I had a text from an unknown number

“Hey beautiful  xx– J”

OMG! How did he get my number? I replied “Jace?”

Not even a minute later I received his response “The one and only ;)xx -J “

I texted back “How did you get my number?”

“You’re brother gave it to me, I hope it’s okay xx – J”

I was about to murder my brother for giving my number to Jason……………….. Wait!  Does that mean my brother knows about the kiss?

“it’s fine J “ I simply replied

“I want to ask you something xx – J”

I looked at my phone screen feeling nervous what does he want to ask me?

“What is it?”  I replied

I looked at my phone and I couldn’t believe what I was reading ….
