I had absolutely, positively, no interest in being in this bar. The atmosphere just seems so...sketch. I mean I didn't even want to come but, I'm new to Boston and me trying to make friends that will last a life time, said yes to hanging out with this girl from the office.
"Come on Brooklyn!" Justina said trying to pull me off of my bar stool. "How the hell do you expect to meet guys if you dont you know...interact with them?" "That's the thing, who told you I was coming to meet guys? You said come hang out with me at the bar." "Ok well let's go make some new friends, there are some girls over there that seem pretty cool." I shook my head no. "Brooklyn you are literally, the lamest chick in Boston." "I guess I am. I'm sorry J, I'm just...awkward and have no game anyway. Also, if you didn't notice your currently my only friend so far in this town so I'm not doing so hot in that department either." I said adjusting my jacket. "You go have fun I'll just-" I was interrupted by a slight uproar of laughter coming from the pool table. I glanced over, rolling my eyes. Something, or should I say someone made me do a double take.
This tall, lumberjack lookin' dude with a navy blue flannel seemed to be the one causing all of the noise. He was...kind of cute. I heard snapping noises. "Earth to Brooklyn!" Justina said. I came back. "Oh, sorry." "Who were you staring at?" She said looking over at the pool table. "Hmm. Well what are the chances?" "What?" "That we'd be at the same bar as Chris frikin' Evans!" "Oh...oooh." I said realizing that THAT was who caught my attention. "Yeah that is pretty weird I guess." I said still staring. He did really look handsome.
I liked the way he smiled he seemed so...genuine. I felt a light push on my shoulder. "What?" "...Your into him aren't you?" "Justina a million girls are into him I'm nothing special." "Ok and you, are the only one of those girls that is actually in the same room as him! You know what, let's go." She said dragging me off of the bar stool. "Hey woah woah woah, time out!" "No. You are talking to him." "I'm pretty sure this could be counted as harrassment and some form of peer pressure!" She rolled her eyes.
We stopped at a table across from him. "Ok, so...walk over to him and introduce yourself." "You say that as if it's as easy as crossing the street." "It can be if you just relax." I looked at her and gave her the "dont make me do this stare" and she just stared back. "This is going to be absolutely disastrous but...fine. I'll go embarrass myself for you." I said.
I turned around and after two steps, I walked right into somebody. "Oh, sorry." I said shaking my head. "Yeah I didn't mean to, slam into you like that." The voice said. I looked up and it was...him. "I was moving so fast." I said kind of quietly. "I was actually coming over to, talk to you." He said. "So was I. I mean, I wasn't coming over here to talk to myself, I mean I was- coming over to... you understood what i meant." "Yeah I did." He said laughing.
I was making a fool out of myself, this already isn't going well and I have no clue what to talk about. There was about two seconds of kind of awkward silence. "You play?" He said looking back at the pool table. "Oh, nah. I've never played before. Plus you and your boys seem pretty busy." "Uh, I could buy you a drink." Suddenly I heard someone calling him to come back over. "That's your cue." "Wait, no I-I can't let you go like this...." he said trailing off as if he needed a name to say. "Brooklyn." "Brooklyn...it was nice meeting you, Brooklyn." He said holding out his hand. I shook it, he had big hands, but they felt soft. "I'm Chris." "Nice meeting you." I didn't want to say "I know who you are" and come off like a fangirl.
He walked back over to his friends and I watched him as he did.I felt slapping on my arm. "Ouch!" I said turning to Justina. "And you said you had no game!" "That was 'game' to you?" I said laughing. "Brooklyn he likes you!" "I wouldn't think anything of it he probably talks to girls all of the time." I said. "I swear Brook, he's into you." She said before going and getting herself a drink.
Two Hours Later...
I was tired, and Justina seemed like she was enjoying herself with a guy that she met. She wasn't drunk or planning on getting drunk so I didn't need to be her ride home. "Hey, Imma head out now." "Really? Ok, I'll text you tomorrow. Did you have fun?" "I did, thanks J." I said. I headed out of the door and to my car. "Brooklyn!" I heard someone calling, I turned around and it was Chris. "Oh, Chris hey."
"Hey why you leaving so early?" "Well I'm pretty tired and...there wasn't much for me to do here anyways." "Still want me to buy you that drink?" "Oh...no that's ok. I'm heading home now, but it's very sweet of you to offer." I said zipping up my jacket. "I'm sorry I don't mean to keep you waiting I know it's cold. I just...I'm gonna come out and say it, I think you're pretty." He said. I immediately became flustered and crossed my arms across myself. "Am I making you uncomfortable? I'm sorry im... such an idiot, I don't wanna be that creepy guy at the bar it's I saw you with your friend earlier and I just...had to talk to you and I felt like I had to tell you." "No no no, you aren't. Thank you." I said smiling, he smiled back and I got this warm fuzzy feeling inside. "You don't look to bad yourself." I said quietly, not making eye contact with him. He chuckled. "I'm flattered. I know you wanna get home but...I would really like to talk to you some more." "I wouldn't mind that." "Cool. Um, wanna exchange num...bers?" He said nervously. I nodded. I took out my phone and we put each others numbers in our phones."Have a good night." "You too." I said getting in my car. I was so in shock that it took me a while to start heading home. On the way home all I could do was think about that smile I couldn't help but do a little grin every time I thought of him. Part of me was saying that me getting myself into this with him was a setup for failure I mean in already not good at talking to guys, but I also think I might like this one. I got a text message as soon as I put my car in park at my apartment complex. "So, will I see you again?" The message read. "I think that would be nice...very nice:)" I replied.
