I was at the church preparing for the upcoming youth convention. I was preparing the food and the decorations after all. From behind me I heard a voice that seemed vaguely familiar. A voice from my past. It was Asher but of course. I forgot what his voice sounded like and the sweet smell of his cologne. He half smiled at me. I turned around without returning the same gesture. He seemed okay with the fact I didn't return a smile.
"Aren't you on file duty Ash?" I asked still focused on the food and decorations on the table.
"Bob said I could take a break."
" So how have you been?"
"Good I suppose. I mean nothing really has changed for me Val."
"Yea. Me neither."
" I think a fiancé is a huge deal."
"Meh."
"Well I got to get going."It was troubling why did Asher want to talk to me so bad?
