Her feet aren't on the floor again.
It's the second time today that thought has taken reign over all the more pressing ones of the day. She's not sure if it means something or if she's suddenly become oddly tuned in to how the kitchen bar stool highlights how short she is.
"Earth to hotness, you there?"
Normani looked across the bar at the blonde leaning against the counter waiting for a response. She glanced to the side to see that Lauren, sitting on the counter a few feet away, has the same expectant look on her face.
"We need to talk."
She wants to facepalm at how bad that sounds. When she has to peel her hand from her face she realizes she did.
"Not a bad talk. Well not really. A little bit but in a good way. But not the what are we 'we need to talk' talk. Or a breakup 'we need to talk' talk. Just a talk because I—need to talk to you. Both of you. About something."
Her heart is beating fast and she didn't realize how nervous she'd become. The realization is overshadowed, however, by both the alphas laughter. Normani frowns.
"I'm serious."
The two laugh harder, Dinah nearly on the floor. In the breaths in between laughs both alphas try to get something out about the face she made or something else Normani's finds equally as irritating.
"We really need to talk! Can you two grow up?!"
They're both still trying to calm themselves but they're not getting there fast enough and Normani feels herself losing patience.
"I'm pregnant, assholes."
She turns before she can see how they reacted, and she has the bedroom door slamming before she can remember that she sort of wishes she could have seen it.
She doesn't have a reason to look up when the door opens behind her not too long after. It's not long before she feels the bed dip and someone—Dinah's—front press against her back. Lauren stands in front of her, between her legs.
"We're idiots."
"We're sorry."
She's not sure exactly who said what but she nods. Lauren starts apologizing for both of them and she can feel Dinah nodding along behind her. She can't really focus because soon her eyes are blurred with tears and then she's crying.
It throws all three of them off but it doesn't take long for Dinah to move to sit against the headboard, encouraging her to follow.
Normani knows the only reason she's following is because Dinah's doing that humming thing Normani can't resist. Literally. Lauren found something online about certain alphas still having the ability to "calm their omegas" with certain sounds. Normani didn't care how it happened, she's made Dinah sleep on the couch for at least two nights every time she's tried (and made sure to pull Lauren into her room at least one of them so Dinah knew what was at stake.)
Normally when Dinah stops Normani would rip her a new one. This time she decided to let herself melt into the blonde's chest and be calmed.
She's not sure when she officially calms down exactly but by then Lauren's climbed on the bed to mirror Dinah on Normani's other side.
