I dreamt of you last night...

I'd felt your embrace, your warmth
And I heard your uneven breathing and the tear you couldn't stop from falling.
I remember the way the green in your eyes glistened in the sun,
As you moved further and further away from me.

I woke up with a pain in my chest.
A longing so strong i felt it in my soul.
My fingers ached from trying to reach for you one last time.

Then I realized...

It wasn't you I was reaching for.
It was the you I created in my mind,
The person I knew you could be but someone you really weren't.

My heart hurt again but for a different reason now.
I loved you, I always will love you.
But the person you are now doesn't love me anymore.
And the only thing I can do,
Is hold you in my dreams,
And wake up wishing you were real.
