The phone rang at the OT5 law firm and Niall jumped in his chair, sliding his glasses half off his face and groping the phone haphazardly, answering in a monotonous, tired voice - after all, he had just been woken from a nap - "Hello, this is OT5 Law Firm, how can I brighten your day?"

The woman on the other end of the wire hesitated for a moment, restricted by the nonetheless abrupt greeting. "Uh, hi. I was wondering if I could speak to Harry?"

"Harry!" Niall hollered in a very unprofessional way to his partner. "There's a girl on the phone for you!"

Indigo could hear a quiet skerfuffle as Harry wrestled the phone from Niall and scolded him for being so un-secretary-like. There was a moment of reverent silence while Niall rolled his eyes and promptly went back to sleep, snoring loudly as Harry said into the receiver, "Hello?"

"Harry? It's Indigo."

The words took Harry's full attention of the drool hanging from Niall's mouth to the soft voice speaking on the other line. "Hey, Indigo, how's it going?"

"F-fine," she said in a very unconvincing tone. "I was just wondering if we could, um, maybe... Oh, gosh this sounded better in my head..."

Harry laughed. "It's fine. Do you wanna go get a bite to eat?"

Indigo smiled, clutching the phone closer to her ear as she nodded. "That would be perfect."

"How's about that old diner on 42nd?"

"Last one there pays."

--

The deal that the last one who made it to Hal's Diner pays was completely rigged, because the law firm was at least twenty blocks away from the small, 50's style diner, while Indigo was practically right next door, but it was fine in the end.

Harry and Indigo laughed for a long time before the awkward silence came and Indigo pulled an envelope from her purse. "I found this, today."

Harry shakily took it from her, gasping for breath at the unwanted memories it brought back. "Y-you read it?"

Indigo nodded. "I never did, all those years ago. I couldn't."

Harry blinked, running his finger over the purple crayon that inscribed the front. "Listen," Indigo said slowly. "I can't love Lionel. Not like I loved you, and-"

"No, Indie-"

"Harry, please!" The urgency in her voice caused Harry to look up at her. Distraught, her eyes begged for him to listen. "I want freedom, Harry. I want it so bad I can taste it. And freedom starts with me."

Harry gulped, before blinking and then nodding slowly.

The waitress came and took their order, and Harry found himself thinking how the universe was much too beautiful for his own good.

Especially when Indigo was the universe.

"I want to meet your team at the law firm, if that's okay. I thought it might be fun."

"Yeah, of course," Harry responding, while writing a cheque for the bill, and Indigo giggled. "I can pay, if you want me to," she said, but he shook his head.

"A true gentleman never goes back on his word," he said cheesily, and led Indigo out of the door.

--

"So, this is Indigo," Zayn said shortly thereafter, as she shook his hand and admired his hair. "I've heard a lot about you."

"Wish I could say the same about you," she countered, then added, "Harry hasn't told me much about you guys."

"He's ashamed of us," said Louis, coming up and introducing himself to Indigo, then adding, "We're the little brothers he wished he never had."

"Except he's the youngest," Liam laughed, then hugged Indigo tightly and motioned around the small room. "Welcome to the Law Firm."

"Hey!" Niall screeched, coming into the room holding a fast food bag. "Don't forget about me!" He shucked the bag to a nearby desk and shook Indigo's hand rapidly. "I'm Niall; I like food."

Indigo laughed at his bluntness while Liam reaffirmed the fact that Niall liked food. Harry grinned and pried Niall's greasy fingers off of Indigo's arm and led her into the waiting room. "Harry," Indigo said slowly. "Freedom starts with me, I realise that." She drew herself up and then blinked several times. "But I also want to be a part of something bigger, something more exciting." She exhaled. "I want to join."

Harry was taken aback by her sudden boldness. Indigo wasn't usually so straightforward. "Join what?"

"Oh, don't act stupid, Styles. I know you're a part of the Revolution. It's as easy to see as that security camera trying to be hidden behind that fake plant."
