As she trudged down the alley,
Her path slowly faded into an endless abyss.
Desperately she tried to run, but out came a burden.
Her legs grew heavier as her heart swelled.
Focusing only on the pain,
she lost all and all lost her.
Now alone the lies have faded,
Revealing the cold truth.
She now must pay the price.
Letting go of her burden,
She is now free.
Fleeing toward the light so fast she falls.
Reaching out to catch herself,
Her hands seep through the love.
Now descending further and further she goes.
Never able to feel the light on her skin,
Or the cool touch of a summer's breeze again.
She languishes in her own fault.
Reminiscing about her now lost past,
She has nothing to look back on,
And nothing to look forward to.
Being her own Heart Adversary.
