We snapped our fingers for the previous poet and up next was me
My childhood friend Cordae was in the crowd cheering for me,which was somewhat against the rules cause we're supposed to snap our fingers
But he didn't care And that's what I loved about him
"You got it y/n don't sweat it yo"he said hugging me
I hugged him back and walked towards the stage
I got on the stage and examined the impatient yet intrigued crowd
I looked down and gulped trying to remember my poem but I forgot
How fucking embarrassing
It got quiet and people started to cough and whisper
I could feel myself getting anxious
I saw Cordae in the crowd still sitting there,smiling and cheering me on
Something within me made me smile a smile I've never shown before
I knew exactly what to say
I cleared my throat,alarming the crowd to hush and I intrigued them by my seductive brown eyes
I grabbed the mic off the stand and walked around in stage looking at each and everyone in the room
"Brown eyes so deep with anger and pain yet, so hypnotising and sweet they tempt my soul.
Lips so soft and warm, such harsh words for such gentle lips Kiss me so I can feel your pain.
An embrace so safe and secure that could crush you and destroy that which is oh so pure- hold me closley.
I feel your heart, I hear your breath, I know there is love inside.
A sculptured body, skin of a king, I see you in my dreams-I feel you when you are away.
If only you loved me with a heart that's pure. If only you'd let me in so I could love you, forever and ever, my strong black man..." I said looking straight towards Cordae
The crowd went wild and especially Cordae,for his turn was up next
I put the mic back on the stand and someone threw a rose on stage
I knew who it was
Cordae walked passed me and put a note in my hand
He flashed a warm pearly white smile
I walked over to my seat in the crowd that was next to his
I snapped my fingers for him as well as the others and then we stopped when he held his hand up
He looked straight at me and mouthed "This ones for you"
"How do I describe My love for you? How can I explain That this is true?"
"Love is a funny thing We'll never understand, But hear this truth ring: I'm in love with you."
"These butterflies, Shy smiles, Late nights. Thoughts are constantly" About you.

I felt my eyes start to water at the words that came out of his mouth
Me and Cordae have always secretly had feelings for each other but I never knew his were deeper than mine
I ran up to him and jumped on him
He caught me and embraced my body
We let go and made eye contact
I noticed his pupils began to get big,for I knew this was love
We kissed a deep and passionate kiss like no other and the crowd went wild
We laughed as we continued to kiss
We eventually stopped and as soon as we were going to leave he pulled my hand and got on one knee
"Y/N,Ive been in love with you for most of my life and It's a love like no other,I'm tryna love yo mind,body,and soul,ya dig? Your every little moods and pet-peeves,your best and worst moments,I want to grow old with you and make you the mother of my kids,now would you make me the happiest poet and marry me" he said with tears forming in his eyes
But those weren't sad tears,those were love tears man Happy ones
I was speechless and the only thing that could come out was "Yes..YES ILL MARRY YOU!!" I said slipping the ring on my finger and kissing him
From that point on I knew he was the one I was going to spend the rest of my life with
