darkness looms over the archipelago
as sounds of gunshots resonate across towns
the black pavement drenched in blood of criminals deemed vicious
a grim reminder of deaths at the hands of authorities who swore to protect the people
a promise broken, transpiring a bloodlust chase
mothers weeping whilst holding a portrait of their child,
who will never live to see the crack of dawn again
alongside the carcasses of said criminals buried six feet under,
is the democracy under a reign of a man reeking tyranny
while cries of protest remain unheard in ears who refuse to listen
compatriots turn a blind eye to sanguinary methods
a nation divided against itself by contrasting dogmas
(the flag— red prevailing over blue
manifestly depicting not only barbarity, but also recalcitrance against tragedies)
