Maybe, it was because I'd never been loved before. Or at least, never been in a real relationship.
Maybe, it was because you were the perfect escape from my dark family reality.
Maybe, it was because you were my high school sweetheart and I wanted to prove everyone wrong when they said it wouldn't last.
Or maybe, as you've now told me a thousand times, it was because I'm naive.
In any case, I used to think you were a knight in shining armor and I was the princess locked in the tower you were riding up on your noble steed to rescue.
Now, I'm starting to think you're the dragon trapping me.
