Surrounded by streetlights
I shut my eyes
I learned to love the dark so fast
I forgot about bright skiesSeptember air caressed my flesh
And echoes whispered by
I placed right foot in front of left
And peeked not through my eyesI listened closely for the sound
I waited patiently
I longed to hear the screaming tires
Headed right for meWhen I stumbled over the curb
I saw to my demise
I found myself across the street
Safe on the other sideWhen I realized what I'd done
I found a bench and cried
I didn't get what I asked for
I really wish I'd died
